Snyder is usually snappy and dark, JJ is the one putting lens flares everywhere.

I thought it was a joke when the i came across the news, and didnt even bother watching to see if its real.

Is this, like, Dead Rising: the SyFy movie or something?

Watched 'Outside the Wire"' on Netflix. Features Anthony Mackie as the top tier actor along with a few other familiar faces.
It could have been something, a few ideas here and there which could have been made interesting (hints of pandemic, problems with proxy-war stuff, terrorism and playing dual sides with no winning etc).
Instead, this is clearly a first time movie - with a bigger budget - from the director and writers, at least thats how it feels. This was a "gift" to someone to get them a chance to do something bigger (nothing wrong with that really).
It got effects and environments down pretty good, action scenes is great in some places and worst in others and dialog is generic tough guy-action-soldier-syfy-movie stuff and plot is...predictable with usual holes in it.
The guy playing opposite Anthony is not right for the part for many reasons (not saying his is a bad actor, but he cant pull it off).

Still, worth checking out if you got the time and want a bit of dumb standard action with the occasional cool gadget/drone and action scene.

It was moderately entertaining, but as boring plot-wise as you can get, and the ending was just silly. Still some of the robot shit was pretty awesome. Anything that had to do with character backstory was boring as fuck though. Would make a far better video game plot than movie plot.

I just hope it's not as tragically shit as Elysium.

Did he do Chappie too? District 10 might be a disaster.

Never watched Chappie, but Elysium was not good compared to D9. I wish he made some of his more insane short films into movies, I guess that was the idea, hopefully D10 stays true to the feel of the original or at least does something interesting instead of whatever predictable studio garbage exec wants.

I mean you can like it, I've never cared to insist a film is unwatchable unless it exceeds a certain level and Elysium is a watchable, boring film. It's tragically shit because d9 was great and I'd hoped more funding would give him space to do more, he kinda stepped away from studio films in response to the restrictions it placed on him didn't he? Elysium was about as compelling as a boring Sci fi film can get. It's shit to me because it was so forgettable and didn't break any ideas, just followed tropes. Most films are like this but d9 was a fairly original normal to hero variant, with a sad ending. Its sequel is implied, I just hope it lives up to what is bound to be a far amount of hype.
