From the esthetics i was half thinking/hoping it was a sequel movie to the Gotham series.
Turns out it is a standalone. So another reboot.
But I love Batman and especially the good old gritty version like the Year One Batman, so I'm hyped.
Its set in year 2 batman

Saw Tenet. Inventive set pieces, terrible script.

I actually had tickets to an IMAX screening but didn't go because they were running at what looked like 85% capacity and I'm not at the "who cares" stage yet. Went to a late local cinema screening with maybe ten people in a 135-seat room instead.

New Mutants is NOT the movie worth dying for either.

The third act goes completely off the rails, and i think i am now suffering from semantic saturation of the word "Bear". I am honestly not sure if the movie is offensive to lesbians, russians, native americans, teenagers or coal miners. They sure went for maximum spread, but the worst part is the wet paper bag lead actress. On the plus side, the horror/suspense works (and should have been an even bigger focus).

Its not the worst Xmen movie by any means though, that honour still is split between Apocalypse and the Deadpool/Wolverine movie.

Saw The Old Guard, not bad for a John Wick clone, Charlize is smocking hot.

Watched Tenet (yarr), i think i got the gist of it, except for

      Spoiler:
    Who actually invented time inversion?

Cool popcorn movie not much more, Pattinson does well and i am mildly hyped for his Batman now.

I don't think your question is answered in the movie (unless I missed it as well). Robert Pattinson has been good in everything that I've seen him in, I'm sure he'll do fine in Batman as well.

a scientist in the future invented it and fearing the damage it could cause, split the algorithm into parts and hid them back in time.
    said scientist then committed suicide.

i thought the movie was really cool, though the sound mixing in nolans films has been getting fairly annoying.
the theater experience is nice and all, but a home system and/or subs offers better aural clarity.

From what I recall, "the algorithm" was for the "general inversion", i.e. flipping the switch from time generally moving forward to generally moving backward. Did they say that the same scientist also invented inversion by inversion chamber?

Sound mix was indeed a bit annoying in that dialogue was often lower than environmental sounds or the soundtrack.

What is up with that trend anyway? Don't they hire educated sound guys anymore?
All of the movie and game studios I have worked with have all had the same mantra. Dialogue is prio one. 'Cause badly mixed dialogue will make the whole product seem bad. Doesn't matter if that ambience bed is bloody amazing if the lead character sounds like he's talking through a mattress.

The 3rd John Wick movie was bloody horrible in theater aswell, with gunshots all mixed way too loud. Sure that is partly the theaters fault for playing it too loud, but they had defenately gone for too much dynamic in the gunshots, causing the entire front row to cover their ears in the long gunfight scenes. It ruined the entire movie experience.

    edit: ouch!

I work in a cinema in Australia, and I had to make a whole new automation cue to have the sound levels in our cinema reduced when Tenet plays, it was so unbearably loud initially the sound was drifting into other cinema sessions. Even then every single session we have of it, patrons come out complaining about the head ache inducing volume spikes and atrocious dialogue mix that gets drowned out by the score and SFX. All we can do is kind of shrug and say ‘It’s a Nolan film.’ It’s so poor we’ve seriously begun floating the idea of playing it with open captions.

It seems like more an attempt to complicate a fairly straightforward narrative and trick viewers into thinking the film is more complicated than it actually is and make sure the plot holes, of which there are many, go unnoticed.

    Opening scene was dope though.

Nolan has been mixing ambient and music louder than usual for a while now, here is an article with some quotes:

No this is not loudness. At least not in the same way. This is exploiting the loudness regulations using higher dynamics to have realy loud peaks instead. As it's just peaks, the average loudness is not higher and gets past the regulations.
