Not really. I've never been in a doto match with a russian player who was even competent. They're all awful trash cyka feeders.

Having played 30-40 games at this point, I can say that it's still incredibly fun to play.

The Talent system is pretty cool, offering lots of specialization choices/builds, and it very quickly turns from sitting in your lane to roaming around the camps/events and teamfighting.

It seems kind of shit how you can't go behind enemy lines or anything though. And no items is lame.

Dota is a good moba but not very new player friendly. HoS/HoTS seems more casual/new player friendly. Yes, people who already play LoL/Dota will hate it since it is dumbed down, but I think you need this if you want to introduce more people into the moba scene.

    no you fucking dont

the moba scene is already the fastest growing (and the biggest) competitive esports scene there is. adding a bunch of awful, watered down games that bring nothing new to the table are nothing more than cash grabs by lazy developers. id go as far as to say they have a net negative effect on the scene.

Do the tutorials explain every concept of the game, including anti-intuitive things like the difference between some elements being proper RNG and some being pseudo-RNG?

DOTA is a great game but it's not new player friendly and it will never be.

it explains what the new player actually needs and not every single obscure game mechanic.

I'd argue that all players would need to know about those mechanics quite quickly - especially given that other players will expect them to know about it and not get caught out by things such as orbwalking, unique attack modifiers not stacking, etc. Disclaimer I haven't played the DOTA2 tutorials, they may mention those mechanics.

I stick to my point that you cannot claim DOTA is a new player friendly game. It's not built to be and nor should it be imo.

If your worrying about all those things as a new player your far ahead of most who are still trying to last hit and figure out why tower diving at 1 min is a bad idea.

I watched a bit on stream, seems oversimplified and avarage but people seem to be interested already. Wonder how long it will go from alpha status.

You can argue all you want but most people dont know or dont care about random/pseudo random. Orbwalking and unique attack modifiers are picked up very very fast.
