Fat for fuel exaggerates a lot of claims about keto diets. Keto is fine for people who struggle to form restrictive diet habits using conventional methods of caloric restriction, it isn't a silver bullet though.

One meal a day is a pretty big behavioral shift. If you want to try time limited eating the current advice from recent studies is to reduce your feeding window at first to 12 hours a day, ie 8 til 8, then each week knock an hour off. Typically it's better to eat more food in the morning since your body gets a bigger thermic effect from feeding then. Some people struggle to sleep while feeling hungry so that also plays a part in the equation. Your body becomes less effective at burning body fat when sleep deprived.
Look, the wages you withheld from the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of Hosts. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves for slaughter.

I've done calorie restriction diets before, but it's a hassle. For the past year, I've been cutting down to 2 meals a day (breakfast and dinner with 10 hours between them), but typically tend to snack during late evening and then I ruin both my budget and the fat burning. It's made the transition into OMAD easier though. I don't have issues going long without food - it's mostly getting enough calories that is a problem. Short-term it's ok; I want to loose weight and as long as my energy levels don't drop I'm good with running a deficiency. But at some point the weight loss needs to level out, and I'd also like to get back into cycling / jogging, so that needs to be factored into the equation (a typical bike ride is anywhere between 1000 and 1600 calories depending on duration and intensity), whereas jogging would be in the 400-800 range.

Keto is a great way to look hot while dying young. Don't do that shit for more than a couple of months.

I'm also curious. Because at the moment obesity and diabetes kill a lot more reliably than not eating more than 20-30g carbs/day (which is basically what the keto diet is).

I don't think keto will kill you. It does have a cult status which means there are all sorts of outlandish claims emerging all the time about it.

Torn calf needs pain management and light stretching. Depending on the grade of the tear you may need more or less rest.

I had a grade 1 calf tear from a hockey match a few weeks ago and was able to play the next week, walking was painful for a couple of days. Worse tears will take quite a bit longer.

Nice one, this made me feel a lot better. It already feels way better, hopefully I'll be able to start running again in a couple of weeks

I'm doing the Varusteleka Remote Military March this weekend. Been a while since I did a good march, so this should be fun. Weather will be...interesting: 47F and light rain are predicted this weekend. Planning to do 25-30km with a 30lb pack.

Suggestions for hiking in the rain? And, other than groin and joints, where should I apply powder?

Tape over them. It also depends on the shirt. Soft weaved shirts pose less of an issue.

I know of an individual who was told by their DS to 'tape up their feet' and used black nasty.
    The results were not good.

Good idea with the zinc. Didn't tape, but used powder and two socks. An odd feeling, but it prevented blisters.

Finished my march shortly before sundown yesterday, and I was utterly exhausted. More hills than I planned on, and some of the trails I wanted to go on were closed. Learned a few things for next time. A painful, but positive experience.

Has it been a year with no posts in this thread? Wow.

Went on another hike, same as last year. But I got started much later in the day, and had done no prep, so I ended up only going 3.4 miles through the neighborhood.

However! I plan to do hiking more regularly, perhaps even weekly. And in different places.

Despite promising myself never again, I have paid for entry to the marathon. 5h47 was the last time, however I appear to have given myself Achilles Tendonitis running at the weekend
