    All right, so I managed to do some IF (16/8) with daily input of 800-1000kcal and the results started showing well. Down to 103kg (january weight was 120kg). Starting today a water fast for a few days - well, not really fast, I plan to eat some veggies like cucumbers, carrots, lettuce occassionally simply to keep up with electrolytes/vitamins, see how this goes.

    Goal of reaching 90ish kg end of may doesn't really seem impossible anymore. At the moment I can't lift properly due to huge healing tattoo on the back and shoulder, so I'm resorting to juggle the calorie intake properly until it fully heals. Good stuff: I don't feel hungry and the tummy seems to be tucking in nicely now, pants are getting larger and I need to add another notch to the belt (always a reason to celebrate).

    Whoop, march to april results:
    - 3kg in minus;
    - 3% body fat in minus;
    - 1% visceral fat in minus;
    - 1cm off the waist.

    Considering I've been slipping a bit as well as pumping less iron than I would have liked, I'm p. hyped and keen on optimizing the next steps.

    You weigh ~100kg and can lose 3% bf in a single month while 'slipping' you don't need to optimise anything, just keep eating less.

    Kudos and all but you're making this whole thing sound like rocket science.

    Meanwhile Im browsing reddit and eating hot cross bun M&Ms. Wonder why I'm +4kg from January :thinking:

    Probably time to ease up on the sugar again.

    On the plus side, got up to 17.5kg flys and 27.5kf DB benches so at least there's some progression in the right direction.

    For me it has been an uphill battle. Depression, job stress and physical exertion take their toll, along with lack of sleep and similar issues. "Eat less" is simplistic imho. Eat better shit, with less calories and heathier is perhaps correct. Optimising is simply seeing how I can control hunger (keto is p. good at that but at times I can't help eating fucking carbs) and including activities that keep me busy - a lot of shit eating happens when I'm bored or watching something like a movie for example. Also seeing if I can lose more than that, because a lot of this is excedent and is not needed/necessary.

    Maybe you should be spending your time 'optimising' the other aspects of your life which are making it an uphill battle?

    If you're 80% there with the diet seeking the extra 20% optimisation is just diminishing returns. If you can get the easy wins managing things like stress levels and sleep you'll probably be doing work which helps the diet bit and also generally helps you stay on track.

    Gone from around 103/104 kg to 74 since July 2018. Plateaued as of late though, so I really need to up my cardio and start doing some weight training.

    Very very nice. Good job.

    Ive personally went down from 103 to 95 in around 7 months and then plateaued for a while. Went to argentina/chille trekking and ive weighted myself today at 92. Now to hold it. Final goal is ~83ish. Optimistic plan is to get that in 6 months.

    I'm bouncing between 85 and 87 right now and I'm certain now that's as much as I can go without putting significant effort. Need to hit the gym soon.

    It is easier to gain it all back than it is to gain it the first time. How long did you have the cast for in the end?

    Out of training for about 7 months total, 3 of those in a cast and 4 of those in a brace with physio.

    Done small amounts of training in the last 2 months but nothing amazing as I've got a load of imbalances, weak muscles and alignment issues to fix now because I was compensating a lot with my left leg, as expected.

    Now I'm back to physio, yoga 1/2 times a week, climbing 1/2 times a week and Capoeira 3 times a week, but no acrobatics yet while I build up my leg properly again.

    Sounds like you have a decent rehab program. Did you need surgery for it?

    Nope, luckily the fractures didn't push the bones out of alignment so only needed a cast. 2 fractures on my ankle and another on the tibia. No ligament damage either, just misaligned and weak from not being allowed to use it and other muscles compensating.

    In the last 2 months I have managed to lose a stone.

    Over the past 3 days I have gained 0.5stone.

    It's easier to lose weight you gained quickly, probably mostly glycogen and water weight if you were dieting before hand.

    This is quite true. Learned this from personal experience.

    Managed to plateau basically whole summer due to work commitments and a general ennui. Abused carbs. Gained back 7kg. Today is my second day of fasting, already lost about 3kg out of that. Going for 5 days (there's plenty of tummy fat to go), with daily gentle lifts. I've been trying OMAD and it worked well but at the moment I was feeling literally encumbered by the extra 7kg - I could really feel them.

    Planning to break fast with broth this time instead of burgers. Planned meals already have the shopping list prepped and on day 5 will go shopping. Until then it's water and black coffee daily and ZMA + a tinge of salt every other day.

    My blood sugars already improved greatly, usually they were pre-diabetes state after 12h fasting, now they're within normal range. Plan is to beat down altered insulin resistance before it turns into full blown diabetes.

    Have you ever tracked skin fold measurements as a proxy for bf%? If you have history of being pre-diabetic it might be worth paying attention to considering the role of fatty tissues in the development of the disease.
