Sorry if I'm being dense, but could someone please explain the cab driver role to me, ideally using examples.
Its pretty suck,
you basically PM the person runnning the game with who you want to swap with during the night
then if that person gets killed/investigated/anything you are basically investigated instead, and if you where targetted for anything they receive that instead.
great if you know someone is coming for you and decide to swap with a mafia or serial killer or something.
not great if you swap with someone and die (happened to me last game)
on turn one xD
For example, consider villager V and serial killer SK. The mafia has decided V is going down, and tells Steph "V is our target". In the meantime, our trusty cab driver tells Steph he's going to swap V and SK this round. The swap occurs, and now the mafia is targeting SK, and not V (though, importantly, they don't know this). The mafia hit fails, and the mafia now thinks V is either protected by the doctor, or is the serial killer.
Mafia: Targets V.
Cabbie: Swaps V and SK.
Mafia: Still thinks they're targeting V, but are actually now targeting SK.
Steph: Soz Mafia, your hit fails.
Mafia: Shit, V is the serial killer!
Vote Lark for CSM
Has its uses but they are limited. Most cabbies in our game over use the ability and screw stuff up more than help.

I think) that cab drivers don't mess around in the beginning much, however fun that might appear to be, but I suppose it's pretty hard to resist using your powers if you have any. However, a good cab driver is the most powerful role the village can have in the endgame, far more so than doc, sheriff or vigilante. I don't think we ever had one making it to that point though.
Great. Thanks for the pointers.
Games have been won by cabbies to date, and others where having a cabbie would have been excellent.
Do you mean not having a cabbie?
Of course there is. You could randomly screw up the sheriff's investigation or doctor save.
But yeah... you saved me, and I went on to help the village so don't say "the role sucks" We all win together remember.
