The company claims the platform will be the largest offshore facility in the world, around 488 meters long.

How many oceans per year can be polluted with that thing I wonder? I'm sure we will find out.

big floaty thing designed to use up yet more of a fast diminishing resource. love it.

I wonder why they didnt just invest the money in renewable energy instead- about time they realised that fossil fuels are a dead donkey and while its great that they are innovating ways to get at previously inaccessible resources its just not helping the future of mankind.eventually all thats going to be left of us are the mud hut dwellers and mongolian nomads

im ok though ive got my Ray Mears survival book. i shall feast upon berries and nuts in the woodlands.

But fossil fuels are renewable. Given a long enough timeframe ...

Trees are a renewable source of energy, so let's start cutting down and burning trees.

as an ecofag myself, I have no problem with this, providing you plant and replenish at the same rate you remove them (or higher). no old-growth or rainforests tho

Exactly, plant a tree and burn a tree is carbon neutral. But tree huggers love trees (plus wood is an inefficient fuel).

we still need stuff like this to allow a continued supply during devolopment and transition to other fuel sources. and we're still going to be using oil/gas when/if 100% of our energy comes from renewable sources. fucking ecotards.

also, samsung make massive fucking boats too? o_O
