Yeah, not played this since it was initially released, worth a replay?

Free Clamdong!
Doubt it. On my first playthrough - It's fun, but also disappointing because way too repetitive. I'd say Bounty hunters don't add nearly enough to go through all the upgrade grind again.
K. I am bored.
I am looking into modding SPAZ myself. Currently I am thinking about EVE style weaponry and less colors overall... dunno how far I can actually go with the modtools and the sourcecode that has been provided yet. I can definitely replace ships, I can definitely replace weapons and I can modify the research trees... so I think with a little bit of tweaking I should be able to give the game a nice different feel.
Anyone interested or got some ideas?
I haven't played since release but I geuss I could help you with some ideas.
- Ability to change and customize mothership & more battleoptions with them.
- I hated it didn't have some kind of skirmish, just that singleplayer with no replay value.
- Mining should be better, it was kinda akward how it worked.
- Some kind of homebase building?
Ofcourse, this ain't ship related :/

Neeeds a new signature.
The cartoony feel is exactly what I want to get rid of myself. I am unsure if Starfarer needs a mod for that... also it's still being developed so I'll hold off on that for the time being.
Right now I am looking at most of the other decent mods for SPAZ and learning what goes where... it's not too complicated actually. Also, this month should be the release of better tools for modding by the SPAZ devs.
Starfarer is very mod friendly, and there are lots of mods out that drastically change the look and behaviour of ships.
Have you played it Blut? If you like SPAZ you should definitely check it out. Even the alpha version is definitely worth the e20.
