    3. I have never before heard the phrase "looter-shooter" so i have no idea what the fuck you are on about?

But its probably my lack of elite armor and skills. That's probably why Freddy agreed with me.
    1. level scaling is a thing, if you're level 3 and shooting level 5 baddies, you're going to deal 20% less damage and take 25% more in return, this is compounded in DPS differences between the weapons and further compounded how Firearms, Stamina and Electronics scales up as you get better equipment and how much great of a impact that actually has, you want shooty-shooty you should stack firearms and stamina, if you prefer the gadgets you should look more towards electronics.

    2. you've probably only gotten the rioters and maybe cleaners (hazmat suit blokes, flamethrowers) their kit is actually quite shit compared to Rikers and especially LMB. (fuck LMB grenadiers with a rusty rake, especially when combined with support-gunners, fuckers pin you down and grenade your face )

    3. shooters with RPG/Diablo-esque mechanics, the Division and Borderlands are two obvious ones on PC, if you want low TTK third person pew-pew and none of the loot-better-guns stuff look at Ghost Recon Wildlands instead.

ranges are significantly compressed as well, Shotguns do fuck all beyond 10 meters, SMG's are borderline worthless past 20 meters, assault rifles peter out at around 40 meters, if you're shooting a MP/5 at long range, you're going to have a bad time, it's a trap new players occationally stumble into since SMG's tend to have higher damage curves, and people intuitively think you can use a SMG effectively at longer ranges than they actually can.

you probably didn't notice, but damage numbers actually scale up and down depending on how close you are to what you're shooting and what you're using to shoot them with, hence the whole two-weapon thing, you can drag a AR and a specialist gun around, or two specialist guns if you prefer. SMG/Marksman rifle is a popular combination, but the jack of all trades is definitely the Assault rifles, i tend to drag one of those and a shotgun/SMG/LMG/MR around depending on what content im doing and where.

Shotguns aren't any good in the outdoor missions, especially considering the volume of fire you need on the harder mission difficulties it's typically better to drag a LMG around, conversely you dont want a M700 when moping about Warrengate powerplant, it's simply not going to be useful in those close quarters.

Diablo got it right out of the first five free chests iirc.

I only have the trousers so far. Worst piece to be the only piece in the collection tbh.

i managed to round out the set last night.

Classified Nomad is borderline broken by the way, iv'e gone 1v3 in the dark zone and won because you just never-ever-fucking-die with that set, it's amazing, it's also fun to pretend you're a old-school rikers shotgunner and just run up with a M870 and blow faces away due to the toughness the build has.

damage is meh compared to dedicated DPS sets, but that survivability means you can happily ignore cover and take on long odds and win anyway.

still not got to max level in this, pretty sure ive just played a couple of hours and gone "meh", not sure if i could power through and see if its more enjoyable when you hit max level...

ironically its kinda the opposite to destiny2, i really enjoyed levelling in that then found it wanting at the max level, in this i am only level 11 and cant motivate myself to enjoy the process of getting to 30.
Dont dam me when i speak a piece of mind; cause silence isnt golden when i am holding it inside.

the end-game has its issues right now anyway, they can be summed up in two parts, classified sets/exotic drops and Division tech.

you get to like 80% off the basic drops that are plentiful, that's great and then you start grinding out the next "power level" only here's where problems start, the drop-rate on those things is low, they occationally run week-long events where you can get access to pieces of specific sets relatively easily, but outside that, it's pure RNG, as in 1%-0.05% levels of RNG and not every activity has a chance to give these, nor is it easy to discern where you might get them, once you manage to assemble a equipment set you like you can then optimize this set, basically take the rolls to max level in exchange for division tech, and this, this is where the grind goes obscene.

it costs 50 div tech to improve one item, fine really, until you realize how much of a bitch it is to get, there are three basic sources, build ilevel 163 Damascus pistols and deconstruct them (1 pistol->1 div tech) farm div-tech crates and caches in the dark zone with the associated risks (HELLO 4 MAN GANK SQUADS!) or play West Side Pier, where each "mission" gives 3 div tech, these take about 5-10 minutes each, you can also get Div-tech from deconstructing gear, only you're looking at best 10% chance per item.

farming 50 Div tech takes about 2-4 hours depending on RNG, upgrading a shit-tier classified drop like say the Nomad Kneepads i have currently to max took me 40 rolls.

it's basically like the 1.3 days all over again, where like 80% of the end-game activities are effectively a waste of time and you're shoehorned into shit that gets incredibly old, incredibly fast.

yes, they sorted out the problematic end-game shit and it's actually good now, it's still got some issues here and there, but it's actually quite good.

poke me on Discord if you need a boostie or something, i am basically dragging about end game kit and can easiily help you skip the WT1-WT5 grind if you want that done.

-end-game combat rebalanced to make it sane, less bullet-sponges, your guns actually do shit, guns rebalanced so anything not a Vector is a waste of time.
-world tiers plus scaling changes means you can do everything bar incursions solo if you want to, content actually scales so if you try a solo hard mission, it's scaled hp and damage wise to you being solo, rather than dropping you into a version scaled to 4 players. you basically wanna get to WT5 ASAP tho.
-Dorkzone redesigned, its less null-sec and more low sec without police, sort of.
    -PVP modes
    -Horde modes
-more gear sets including classifed sets some of them hillarious, such as D3-FNC (i got a ballistic shield, and you cant DO SHIT ABOUT IT!) and classfied nomad (turning the user into sort of a zombie, with RNG you wont ever fucking die in this thing) and so on.
-gear optimization means you can upgrade gear with bad rolls to max level quality

if you're looking for a looter-shooter it's a good game now, the end-game content is actually better balanced than the levelling experience, there is no requirement for group activites, though it's trivial to drop into some if you want it.

the biggest weakness is the lack of actual content for all that space you clear during the levelling experience and the cock-blocking nature of classified and exotic drops, shit like the house (SMG, basically doing 20% more damage than everything else) needs a good look at, alongside that the fact you can upgrade classified gear above and beyond the rest means the regular gear sets aren't really worth it anymore, precluding otherwise interesting stuff like Ninjabike builds (a backpack that counts as any gear item, letting you go 3+4 active gear bonuses).

it's not perfect, but it's good enough to justify the recent surge in players.

It's always going to seem bullet-spongy. The unfortunate result of The Division being an RPG first, looter second, and shooter last. You wouldn't even notice it if you were fighting space aliens or demons honestly.

Yeah but you do because it isn't and it's shit because of it.

Mild trolling aside, did they do anything to the leveling experience or has that been left untouched?

the levelling experience is basically untouched at this point, some mind changes in scaling has occurred making NPC's somewhat weaker, but that's all. (or rather, make you stronger, stamina scaling has doubled, but it makes the NPC's seem weaker because you can sponge more bullets)
