Netflix docu shot during 2018 F1 season is quite alright to watch.

Did you watch the season as the races happened?

Is the documentary catered more towards getting people introduced to F1?

Caught up the Mexico City eprix last night, very entertaining race. The format is growing on me.

It is mostly a promotional vehicle for F1 but there is also a lot of background stuff you won't have seen before. For example the aggro between Horner and Abiteboul, Alonso telling the documentary crew to fuck off during testing, uncensored versions of the in race radio comms along with audio of team member reactions to on track incidents that you won't have heard before.

The super awkward attempts of Claire Williams to placate Lawrence Stroll and the same thing between Guenther Steiner and Gene Haas.

So there's definitely a lot of nice fly on the wall stuff for long time fans.

I did not. I usually try to watch maybe 50% in one form or the other but last year I hardly even watched the 10m highlight stuff. Absolute shit on my part tbh.

Probably aimed more to introduce a lot of the things that happens outside of the races; development, attention on the new small teams struggle, politics, rivalry etc. Did the usual portraits of the drivers (which is normally is kinda standard but as everyone isnt around for 2019 it makes it more interesting imho).

If you are hardcore F1 then no, this isnt something new really and probably not something you would spend 10 eps or whatever on.

Right on. Thanks for the thoughts.

I watch the races live, even the boring ones (inb4 they're all boring hurrr).

Might give it a shot if I get a Netflix sub again, but not too big of a rush.

Get to see the paddock swearing more, which is always welcome. Also sauber's awesome wind tunnel. Er, what else? Its filmed lovely, and the soundscape is excellent, at least in comparison to live broadcasts

Doesnt run like a sequential seriesthogh. Few episodes tackle different narrative structures.

Formula-E continues to be a bloodbath.

3 of 6 races so far this league has had a red flag.
With so much power on such narrow tracks and racing on road tires, it's become a full contact sport.
I do love racing action, but I don't there are many non-factory teams that can afford to rebuild their car(s) between each race.

Bizarre engine failures for Renault this weekend. Two different issues at almost the exact same part of the track?
