Flown this on an alt and it breezes through L4s, most of the time it only needs one booster running (if that) and there is only one or two missions that actually require both running.
I've misplaced the fit but IIRC the Tengu i use for combined Lowsec plexing & some Highsec L4's - the ones a Vargur isn't great at - uses a Pith B-type SSB / LG Crystals and either a second hardener or a TP. Lv Tengu :: Undertanked - there are some l4's that will turn that into a 1bil wreck very fast.
it's 1bil of ship, invest in a decent booster - You dont' need a 1bil booster. one or two B-Tyep smalls (pith or gisti) are fine with decent hardeners and good skillz.
and upgrade the rigs to T2's across the board. I forget if 2x flare + 1x Rigor or vice versa, but T2's fit. Use them.

For L4s in highsec, just use the fit I posted - yet to meet an L4 I couldn't ease my way through, and like halbarad said, more often than not, you don't need the second booster active.
So I've been training an alt to do probing for me, in a Buzzard - after a while, I started contemplating using the alt in the sites alongside my main. Whilst my main, in his Tengu, fights off rats, my alt will hack and analyze and salvage. After a brief discussion in the Buzzard thread, it became obvious that a Buzzard would get roasted quickly. So, now I am thinking of training my alt to fly a Tengu too, so that he can safely enter sites alongside my main.
Is this a ridiculous notion (perhaps another ship, with similiar capabilites would be better?) ? And if not, is the fit below a viable one? Changes?

As you can see, this fit is not meant for fighting, other than being able to survive nasty evul rats long enough for my main to fry them. Since dps isn't a consideration (though I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have some dps), the rigs and BCSs are not a priority, and thus I would like suggestions for what I could/should swap them with.
Again, this fit is meant for my probing alt, who'll assist my main in exploration sites and such.
Well there are salvaging, hacking, etc rigs, and you do only have 1 (T2) salvager.
Think you might have a better time with an armour loki for doing what it sounds like you want to do.

Overtanked. You don't need a second thermic field if you have a prop mod. Fit a painter or something to help with elite rats.
