    Europa Universalis 4

Release is coming up this September and didn't see a thread on this.

Know a lot of you loved EU3 and just noticed they have this page up:

Get some of that shitty DLC for free this way/shameless plug just by signing up a couple of your alternate emails for their newsletter.

Can even win a trip to Sweden if you're bored enough.

Everybody who has played any previous Paradox game will know to wait 6-12 months after relase, before it's actually playable.

Quackbot posts better than most here.

Looking forward to it, though I haven't really played EU3 now that I have all the expansions. And my HOI3 isn't working either with the newest add on.

In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? ... At least it is true that man has no control; even over his own will.

Eagerly awaiting the efforts of the EU4 modding community.

As for the vanilla release... lets just say I won't be buying it on launch day.

Dunno. They didn't bungle CKII on release. (People who say otherwise probably played the pirated version that floated around on torrent sites on release day, which was based on one of the latest beta builds.)

So, a couple of days ago Paradox announced they're going to give everyone who pre-ordered the game a free copy of CK II AND a CK II to EU 4 savegame converter.

According to this interview, the rest of the world will be largely unchanged except for the Mongol hordes, if they spawned in your game. For people playing CK II with the Sunset Invasion DLC, a 'super' Aztec Empire will spawn in the New World. Also, several of the special CK II nations like the Roman Empire will get unique ideas to make them somewhat more interesting to play as.

Really excited about the savegame converter and hope it will meet expectations. If it does it will heighten the replayability immensely. Psyched about bringing my northern viking superempire above and beyond CK2 and into the realm of Renaissance EUIV :P

While I played to death EU2, I always found the armies to be a huge pain in the ass to manage. Bless EU3's regiment mechanics.
