Finally got around to reading Project Horizons, opinions in spoiler:

I'm honestly not as impressed as I expected. The writing is a lot rougher than FO:E, I keep wanting to really like it, but I can't shake the feeling that the whole story is just too much, too far. All the shit that Blackjack has been through so far would leave anyone a completely burnt out wreck, and she's shrugging it off with a wink and a grin. Also, cyberpony with fingers? WTF?

There are some nice touches (The Dealer and the sound of cards shuffling is brilliantly executed, and very much reminds me of the Lady and the sound of dice rolling from Terry Pratchett's 'The Colour of Magic'), but on the whole the writing feels very uneven. There are a few too many whiplash transitions between drama, horror, and comedy. In general it feels like there's more emphasis on flash over substance.

TL;DR 6/10, You're better off reading FO:E twice.
