Duct tape. I bet when spacex starts launching people into space, there is about 1/3 as much duct tape.

forgot all about it, woke up, sat on the shitter, opened twitter, remembered, frantically opened youtube, 30s later drone lands on ship.. i'm not sure which is the bigger accomplishment, my near miss, or their success.

A prototype 13-kilowatt Hall thruster is tested at NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. This prototype demonstrated the technology readiness needed for industry to continue the development of high-power solar electric propulsion into a flight-qualified system.

India has successfully tested their very own reusable space shuttle. Albeit in a scale model, that is a major step up for their space program.

India's space agency is famously frugal, with the five-year reusable shuttle project believed to cost as little as $14 million. It's not the first time the country has shown up its rivals with its low-budget smarts, either, having put a satellite around Mars in 2014 for just $72 million. By comparison, the budget for the film Gravity was closer to $100 million -- so a real Indian space mission cost less than a fake American one.

That Indian Mars mission got A LOT of support from ESA. Otherwise they wouldnt be able to pull it off.

India is playing catch up by developing what basically are commodity missions and walking in the footsteps of giants. There isn't some magic frugal formula here.

Once they're caught up and get the budget they're going to start pushing the envelope and racking up big costs.
