    If you just came up with that, you are annoyingly talented.

    Most SE Interns to those companies will. Those companies are also top-tier, and most are in SF where a $150K salary is merely normal.

    Confirming. It's not entirely an SF thing either. We did a bit of work with Palantir a while back and their London guys were getting a 1500/m housing stipend so they could all live within 15 minutes' walk of the office.

    Windows? Blurgh. Me not being helpful.

    Also almost done with Azure. Will be relegated to extremely expensive Dev environment for the rest of our contract. Blurgh.

    Last time I did it, I started with box_url=https://googledrive.com/host/0B6J6sk4wHy07NE00OEQyYnoySDg/

    then did stuff like this

    require './vagrant-provision-reboot-plugin' #fucking windows

    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: "(iex ((new-object net.webclient).DownloadString(\'https://chocolatey.org/install.ps1\'))) >$null 2>&1"
    config.vm.provision :windows_reboot
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'choco install puppet'
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off'
    config.vm.provision :windows_reboot
    # see https://tickets.puppetlabs.com/browse/PUP-2365
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'certutil -v -addstore Root /vagrant/files/GeoTrust_Global_CA.pem'
    #steps needed to install activation key:
    #1. enable Software Protection svc (and turn on)
    #2. install key via slmgr.vbs -ipk 00000-00000-00000-00000-00000

    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'echo "Installing Puppet modules"'
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'puppet module install puppetlabs-registry'
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'puppet module install maestrodev-wget'
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'puppet module install counsyl-windows'
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'puppet module install rismoney-chocolatey'
    config.vm.provision :shell, inline: 'mkdir c:\usr\share' #dont ask

    # ok, do serious provisioning
    config.vm.provision uppet do |puppet|
    puppet.options = "--verbose --debug"
    puppet.manifests_path = "manifests"
    puppet.module_path = "modules"
    puppet.manifest_file = "config.pp"
    end

    config.vm.provision "shell", run: "always" do |s|
    s.inline = "cup all"
    end
    Contract stuff to Seraphina Amaranth.

    Yub. and apparently they like sharing rooms with eachother in SF, because even that salary won't get you much in SF. :-)
    I'd much rather live in the bay area around SF, to save up for a nice USD 4M home on marina blvd.
