Same as anime tbh.
Just can't immerse myself into this kind of media (tv, movies, games, music - whatever).
Rome, on the other hand, was brilliant.

No, not at all. Decent anime has suspension of disbelief going because the characters have some kind of super power or other reasoning behind such an ability. The face cut off like a slice of butter would be fine if he was Achilles and his sword was blessed.
If you go and watch superman and complain about how people can't fly or have x-ray vision, you're just
Also yeah Rome was great... but did something almost as bad:
edit: fixed

Fast forward to 3:51 or watch the entire thing for some cold steel lols. Note that this is shorter than the gladius and used with only one hand. There's a good selection of other sword videos showing cutting potential but those are much longer swords and a bowie is closer to a gladius.

[QUOTE=Frug;453760]It actually kind of is. You've got a case in Florida and another in Tenerife where both individuals were decapitated with a single blow from a machete. Cutting through meat isn't hard and neither is bone a major obstacle. Losing an arm or leg to a cut is actually not that hard. Whether the attacker lands true or at a poor angle is going to determine how deep a cut will be. We've had plenty of demonstrations at SCA gatherings where longswords, grosse messers, rapiers, katana, and other pointy weapons have been tested on armor and thick chunks of meat or carcasses.
