The lower blades are spinning slightly faster, which produces the spin on the body (both sets normally spin in opposite directions at the same speed, cancelling out the torque effect) and the slow turning effect.

Russians started using that camera technique a long while back for research and testing of stress on rotor blades. The first part is something about a pH gradient in our lungs due to low pH allowing hemoglobin to pick up oxygen and release carbon dioxide or something, I wasn't too good at the biochemistry end of that.
