Yeah, I got all masks: Konahrik, Vokun, Nahrkiin, Otar, Rahgot, Hevnoraak, Volsung, Krosis, Morokei and the Wooden Mask. They would look nice on the wall. ;-)

well, there's all the early adopter failbox 360 users who have probably found the worst bugs, and this being a PC release bug fixes are trivial, either via console or trough plugins.
So I was browsing the mods via various means traditional and the new-fangled Steam doohickery. Other than the usual interfarse corrections and a bit of eye candy or tomfoolery I can't say I found anything massively interesting. There were rumours of some radical overhaul mod in a foreign land, and another of something where you could run your own town almost M&B Warband style that sounded very ambitious. Is there anything actually worth going through the inevitable pain of modding this game or should I just stick with vanilla?
Modding via Steam is a huge PITA, i suggest using the Skyrimnexus, they got a nice modmanager, better descriptions etc
So, do I take my dual wielding swords, thief, mage - jackofalltrades character and explore this new expansion, OR
Do I start over with a new pure mage on the hardest setting?
Im worried that its not been long enough since I played through Skyrim and that Ill be bored. On the other hand, it was a really nice experience, very entertaining. Anyone been in the same dilemma who can offer some advice?
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10037 if the current system is a bit arcadey for your tastes
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16139 remarkably well made all things considered, and you can do so many other things, so why not fishing ?
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2356 higher res textures, if you got the "HD pack" (and you do) it's more of a taste thing
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18436/ if you want to ramp up the difficulty, why not add more spawns too ?
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18480 why buy when you can build ?
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8793 more scrubbery in the cities, helps out in whiterun especially (that place is barren, even for the middle of a bloody tundra)
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16886 Open faced guard helmets, because nobody knows what the fuck Bethesda was thinking with the ones they have now
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15506 ever notice how there's no lightning ?
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12092 no cloaks ? really now ?
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18395 ever wondered what to do with all those effing dragon souls ? why not trade 10 for a free perk point ?
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9557 because fuck riding that carriage every time you restart
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863 because fuck console interface faggotry
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4929 what do you mean there's no roads on the map ?
a small part of my "collection", i currently have 146 ESP's active, though using BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorter Software, works for Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim too) means that, with one or two exceptions its painless.
the funny stuff starts once you want to load say both Cloaks of Skyrim and Winter is Coming at the same time, but even then it's a 5 minute jobbie to read the instructions and off you go, just stay the hell away from SkyRe, that thing breaks EVERYTHING.![]()
hard mode is a character with no bonus health/magikca/stamina (so 50/50/50 and 100 in carryweight, but stamina increasing by 20 instead of by 5) no racial skills and then dumped in the middle of nowhere with minimal kit, ASIS running with increased spawns, warzones installed and the difficulty turned up.
exactly how i like to start my games, the first hour or so raiding corpses and running like a little girl are always the most entertaining.
The biggest advantage Nexus has is that pissy manchildren can't emorage and overwrite/delete their mods and get it autouploaded/autodeleted via Steam Workshop.
The worst part of Nexus is that it's full of pissy manchildren and people with a mental age of about 9yo, who spend most of their time creating dickgirls, triple-H boobs, plastic doll models and whose technical aptitude is limited to running textures through Photoshop sharpen filters so they can reupload them as "HD texture packs".
there is the occasional gem on the nexus though, but the entire modding community is fucking retarded, there's a fairly entertaining topic over on Something Awful i like to lurk in where they show off the worst of them, and oh my god there's some terrible mods out there.
That thread is amazing. It spiked when the guy who moved the cities into the world space (removing the loading screens) added oblivion gates everywhere and claimed it was according to lore and that Bethesda just didn't do it because. So some goons asked him kindly to remove them and he flat out refused, so they first reuploaded his mod without the gates which triggered a shitstorm by the author and the Nexus modding "community" about their unwritten modding codex, the mod got banned on nexus and eventually steam workshop. Then another goon created a mod that essentially just turns off the gates if you run it with the open cities mod.
Nexus. Nexus never changes.
Link to this comedy thread?
SKSE was telling me ingame that it wasnt up to date. Downloaded and transferred the latest one and now its telling me that my copy of Skyrim isnt up to date. Guh
Also somewhat underwhelmed by spells. Currently playing a redguard with sword and destruction magic, start with bow and then close in. Have firebolt but end up just using flames instead. Got a couple of relevant perks in the Des tree and use the occasional scroll but so far its a bit meh. Think I may go to Winterhold and the mages college.

Some call me Shatoon, bringer of corn. Others call me Mickey Nine, the dream weaver. Some call me Photoshop. Others call me Trenu, the boiler...
confirming destruction is shit outside of impact/dualcast spamstun faggetry and 4x-25% destruction cost enchants.
conjuration for double dremora lords is the shit however.
You sure you have 1.5.10, compatible with runtime 1.7.7.0?
Dawnguard doesn't seem that much content wise for 20€. Unless the main quest is long AND interesting not just clear 10 draugr infested dungeons.
Pedos, creeps and special snowflake modders go in here (the Arthmoor/Open Cities/Gate Crasher debate fills like half or the last third of that thread).
destruction scales for shit because when it does scale well the mage NPC's just outright murder everything up to and including elder dragons.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11139
fixes this, without going overboard.
also, i like the new random spawns dawnguard adds, but THREE FUCKING WEREWOLVES IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROAD WHEN ALL I GOT IS A RUSTY IRON SWORD IS NOT FUCKING FAIR.![]()
oh, a gem from that Something Awful thread.
never did think of it that way myself...It's funny because the Dragonborn, like virtually all RPG player characters, is actually loathsome on a fundamental level. S/he is a rampant murdering warlord who steals everything that isn't nailed down, plunders ancient tombs of their priceless historical relics for pocket change, runs errands for malevolent deities in exchange for trinkets, accepts contract work from evil cults, and somehow finds the time to be the walking personification of dragon genocide in between bouts of war profiteering and occasionally transforming into a mythological predator. The Dragonborn is basically the worst god drat person ever, and the fact that Lydia puts up with him/her with nothing more than the occasional exasperated sigh is frankly astonishing.
