Don't worry about it man. Stating that you hate the game for this again isn't going to make me agree with you. I think I'm just going to accept that this is going nowhere and I'm literally talking past you.
tried Oblivion and was absolutely disgusted with combat there
Not you too. Listen. For the umpteenth time. I loved morrowind and had no issue with the combat system. Oblivion was terrible but if you're trying to tell me it's because of the combat system again I'm going to strangle you. There was a lot that sucked about that I-wish-I-was-lord-of-the-rings-all-over-again game. Maybe there was something good in there but I got bored and quit playing after two hours.
I don't need to be "sold" on Skyrim. Every neckbeard and his dog is masturbating over this game and I will inevitably play it when the price comes down. And I'm sure it's a great game.
One trend I see in the elder scrolls series is that fans of both oblivion and skyrim are big on recommending mods. Like, to the point of "play it but install x mod first". With oblivion, it was the mod that stops the enemies from leveling up with you (one of the dumbest things about the game imo).
Am I the only person who wants a game to be vanilla, with the vision of the designers and writers, to be left untouched? If it's an RPG and they have a story to tell, I feel like altering it is breaking that. I might want to hack up a game to see cool shit happen and all, but only after having experienced what the game is supposed to be.
