I did like the bit in Witcher 2 were this Elf wifey was about to be lynched by a few townsfolk, apparantely because she was a "terrorist whore" or something. Expected to have to intervene, save innocent minority from rabid mob. Did the first part, turns out she was a terrorist whore, was pleasantly surprised as I hunted down and killed her.

Yeah, the 360 port for the Witcher 2 was supposed to be incredibly well done, I think they'll pull it off.

As long as it gets ported to consoles.

Doesn't mean the UI should be shit as in W2 1.0 though.

Summary of everything known so far.
    • Average playthrough is 50 hours long.
    • Game ends in one of 36 world states with one of three epilogue chapters each an hour long.
    • Save games decide which characters return from previous Witcher games.
    • Geralts "backstory" is the same regardless of what you did in previous games.
    • You can buy horses or tame them with the Axii sign.
    • Ignii is a constant stream of fire now and can burn the environment.
    • Animals can be hunted for fur and other resources by tracking colour-coded markings in the wild.
    • Day-night and weather cycles dictate when areas can be accessed and which beasts appear in the wild.
    • Towns are larger and denser.
    • Citizens report you to guards if you steal things or break laws.
    • There are mini-games noted as cards and axe-throwing, possibly more.
    • Level 60 is the cap.
    • The world economy is dynamic and is affected by what and how much you sell.
    • Geralt can jump.
    • You can target body parts in combat in a system apparently a bit like VATS from Fallout 3.
    • No quick time events, except for fist fighting.
    • Some known areas are Novigrad the world's capital city, the Skellige Islands and the wasteland wilds. Boats can be used for travel.
    • 2014 release date with no exact day known.
    • Game is available on all high-end platforms including the PS4.
    • The game uses the new CDPR REDengine 3, optimized for DX11.
    • You can climb as well as jump.
    • No invisible borders in the game, you go where you like.
    • There will be a fast travel system.
    • 30% larger world than Skyrim.
    • No loading sequences between areas the world is seamless.
    • The game will still involve full cinematic, dialogue and cutscenes.
    • The world is far more populated.
    • The game has a much better tutorial than the previous which is part of the plot.
    • You activate a sense system to find tracks of animals, you can determine what the creature is and also prepare yourself to defeat it.
    • The VATs-like system isn't a pause but slow motion.
    • Character development is far more complex than before and has "hundreds of options and specializations."
    • Magic is much more impactful and complex in the game (no real details that haven't already been mentioned)
    • Experience comes exclusively from completing quests, killing monsters or hunting is for monetary rewards.
    • Monsters do not level with you, they have set levels and many are too strong to fight at the beginning of the game.
    • The interface will be different for consoles and PC's "which should make PC gamers lives easier."
    • The game is not being limited by current gen consoles, it is aimed entirely at pc's and next gen.
    • More on the dynamic economy, different places pay different prices.
    • You are always independent when it comes to factions, no more alignment.
    • The AI is much smarter than the previous games, people can apparently surrender to you.
    • No factions. You won't have to decide for a faction like the Order of the Flaming Rose or the Scoia'tael. A Witcher acts independently all the time.
    • You can't attack innocents, because that doesn't fit Geralt's character.

It'll be interesting to see how they balance that. I recall abusing the hell out of Fable's economy - buy up all of X item, jack up the price, sell it all at once, price crashes, buy it all up again, repeat until you have all the money you could ever use in the game. I wouldn't expect them to use a system as simple as basing price on supply, but it's possible.

I really need to give witcher 2 another go. I started the game on hard having never played the first, figuring oh I always end up playing on hard or master difficulty in skyrim & other RPGs, why not just start it that way.

    How wrong I was

This is awesome, the biggest let down of the Witcher series so far has been the lack of a real economy. I'm glad we'll be able to play Geralt like the cutthroat merchant prince he was in the books.
