    Eos

Eos is pretty badass for a solo ship... plus it tanks drakes out the ass.

This fits with a +3% pg OR you can use a faction med. cap booster (not that expensive) + best named nos (not that expensive last I checked) for equal functionality and no PG implant.... another variant is to roll ions and Neut + Nos, switching as appropriate. Personally I feel the ability to bring plenty of light drones, and full tackle gear, means that you'll kill a tackle before you neut it.

Personal preference ofc, the neutrons add 20 dps (513 vs 494)

    Hammerhead II x2
    Hobgoblin II x1
    Ogre II x2

    513 DPS (
870 omni dps tanked with std. exile, 1294 on overheat. Hardeners are flipped based on what I'm being shot by (if I can anticipate)

Add legion booster for comedy levels of tank.
I tried to be cool and all I got was a lousy warning about my sig being too big.

    Re: Eos

ok, but a 6 turret astarte (using one turret slot for a NOS to make the comparison fair) does the same thing, but even with ions has better dps/tracking/range, and when you take overheating into account significantly more dps. plus slightly more ehp for (afaik) the same cost. so why?

(edit: and also doesn't have PG issues/doesn't need implant and benefits more from the compulsory ZGM1000)

Eos can carry different damage types, and also utility sets like warriors and jamming drones.

if you're doing 20% less damage is a different damage type really all that much of an advantage? you only realistically come across major resist holes with EM, (thought i expect most in an EOS will be carrying therm/exp drones) so you're suggesting 1 set of therm drones, 1 set of EM drones? doesn't sound like much of an advantage given all the inherant disadvantages of drones anyway. eos really should get the myrm drone damage/hp bonus, they nerfed it too hard

    Re: Eos

    I love the eos.
I prefer fitting a MFS over EANM, and Ions over Neutrons.
Having a med nos AND med neut is really really great.

Sure the EANM reduces your tank a bit, but you have much better damage output.
You can do the same with the above variant, but the lack of neut is pretty bothersome on a ship that can fit it so esaily.

    Mandatory extras:
    ZET10/100/1000
    ZGM1000
    CX-1/ZET400
    Standard Exile

    EDIT:
actually this is my fit lol

i tend to lean towards the dps side of things.
i mean, if i cant kill a drake in reasonable time, whats the point?

Eos is a lot more engageable to hostiles and takes (at least) as well, making it more likely to find successful fights.

    Re: Eos

any gallente CS draws swarms of hopefulls like flies to shit tbh only ever flew nano shield varients though, any time i get in a gallente armour boat people bring far more than it can possibly cope with and i get stuck without the speed/agility to disengage or split them up

Tried this fit today and with gang booster. managed to tank 3 cane, 1 harby, vaga, sentries and thrasher at one point, killing a cane and harby getting to 20% structure (limited help from a sfi and at end a mega, forgot exile's :S).
low dps but the tank means that you can just chew through stuff as long as the boosters last.

This--Astarte looks scary on scan. Eos looks like "wtf I haven't seen one of those outside of the tourney since 2007?!"

    Re: Eos

I'm really liking the eos at the moment (in fact gallente ships in general).
Its such a fantastic solo boat and almost everyone under estimates it.

I'm starting to learn towards the dps side of fits, the all tank fit is nice but I've had too many instances where drakes/vagas etc have deagged/escaped in armor/structure.

As prom said, med nos and neut are so handy. In this http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=9747028 instance I used a nos to assist cap (I couldn't use drones due to gate guns) and then when he was low on cap the neut kept him capped out.
It wasn't till afterwards that I found out he didn't have a cap booster (also the loot was stolen from under me )

The tank is just insane with exile and a legion booster and hostiles won't disengage if your armor is hovering around 25%.

I've experimented with dropping the web for eccm and running lg spurs but without the web hostiles will just coast out of your scram range.

Although I've ended up losing two because I became too cocky and took on blobs that were way too big.
