You can make an alert which emails you when something with the selected search criteria pops up on google, not sure how well it works however, look somewhere at google.com/dashboard it's around there.

You can set up a media server or something similar though not something that's heavy on I/O, the main advantage of the pi is that it's easy to hack and the price.

Looks good though with so many changes the potential for a fuck up is that much greater, will be setting an extra long skill for this one. Any predictions on what will be horribly broken?

Pretty tough to do more when i'm holding a flank solo against 3 tanks and the other side gets crushed, or that time when their flank is vulnerable and no one follows you they just sit and watch...
