as zeppaloo said, there's a level sync / mentor system that shifts your level down, but it's only available in dungeons and FATEs, which is somewhat convenient since these are the two built-in XP...

with fray and a wall to stand behind you're still going to get hit 50-70% of the time. it's funny your synths were getting krucked, generally synths are the most durable since they have innate armor...
