My boss bought a Sig238 and picked it up today. Brought it by to show off. I pulled my Bersa .380 out to compare(which I bought from him just a few days ago). The size difference was actually more comfortable, and the weight, pretty much the same. I found the Sig238 to be uncomfortable since I couldn't put but two fingers on the grip. Like you said, you've already got it, so no reason to change if she's happy with it and is ok with going to the range with it. No reason to carry a gun you don't like to shoot at the range.Quote:

Took my .380 to the range today, for such a small round, it sure does kick. Also found a nice second mag, it gives it a lot more grip and makes it really comfortable to shoot. Adds a bit of weight to the lower grip and helps steady too. I'm liking this gun.
That's funny, I've heard that about the .380 and never saw it with the P238. We have both a standard one and the "HD" which is all stainless, both shoot on par with or maybe slightly hotter than a Beretta .32 Tomcat in my estimation. Closer to that than a .38 spl, much less than a 9, even with Critical Defense. Higher slide mass on the Bersa is what does it, if I were guessing.Quote:

Its an AR15, it could range from a old beat up semi-auto low-end AR that will sell for <500, all the way to a registered class-3 machine gun that could be worth over ten grand. If those guys are real military though then odds are its an M4 that you can't buy anyway. The scope is either an ACOG or an airsoft ACOG knockoff; its worth from 50 bucks to a grand.
So I was messing around with the hammer mechanic on the Sig 226 and found a couple of interesting things. The decocker works as expected, it drops the hammer to the half cock position and cannot go any further. If you decide to decock the pistol the dangerous way (hold the hammer, pull the trigger, and slowly let the hammer drop), the hammer will want to move to the half-cock position and no further. Once it reaches that position, there are no longer any spring forces acting on the hammer. If you let go of the trigger once it reaches that position it lock in place, meaning it can go no further (although Sig maintains that it is not guaranteed if you circumvent the decocker). The hammer cannot physically rest on the firing pin; once it moves past the half-cock position, there is a spring force that actually tries to push the hammer back to the half-cock. So, the only way the hammer can move past the half cock and touch the firing pin is when the trigger is pulled and the hammer moves past the halfcock position by its inertia, or is physically pushed in.Quote:

I was talking about a gun for sportshooting, that fits within the rules of the competition. Rifles with magazines are a no go therefore in this department.

Meh in terms of gun laws. The requirements that go into owning a gun here (nest to time and money) kind of prevent me from owning one. I did look into a Ruger 10 .22 some time ago with the result that for Germany, buying local / Walther being easier though not cheaper. Shot a Fiveseven for the first time today. Coolest pistol I've ever shot tbh.
Ridiculously accurate/easy to shoot accurately, practically no recoil even though the frame weighs nothing, 20 round mag of what looks to be a pretty nasty round. I was shooting groups that were tighter than any handgun I've shot larger than a .22LR.
Not just an expensive toy, that's for sure.
EDIT: Beretta M9A1 was also somewhat decent. Not as good as I'd have thought, Glock 22 .40 shoots better.
Fired an actually suppressed MP5SD in .40 cal on Sunday. Fully auto and three round burst. Really enjoyed it, but jesus does that gun kick. I expected with a suppressor, pistol round in a rifle setting, that it was going to be a pretty easy to handle gun. Full auto was just as you'd expect, but three round burst was stupidly hard to control. After watching it cycle a good few times I've decided there's something with three round burst that makes it cycle faster. Was lots of fun though.

That's what I use for competition shooting and love it. It's for the NRA Service Rifle and John C. Garand competitions.
Service rifle is M1, M14/M1A, AR-15, and 1903 Springfield and allows limited modifications (trigger and sights, must maintain stock appearance). Bring your own ammo so people use super target rounds.
John C. Garand is M1 only and allows no modifications. Also uses surplus .30-06 ball ammo only.
