Even water guns can kill, if used properly.

the only SIG worth posting tbh, it's a SIG P210 m/49 Neuhauser, we're still using these because there really is no finer 9mm service handgun, you can't really improve on perfection. (well okay, we're gradually retiring them in favor of P320's, but it's going to stick around in Home Guard service for many years yet)
To be fair, pretty much ever Sig gun is nearly perfect. Never shot a 210, but I have shot a 220, 226, and 228 in various calibers and they were all just phenomenal.
if you get a well maintained one, it's a work of art, we got basic qualifications on them alongside rifles because, well it's a service arm you gotta know how it works, just like the MG's and it's easily the nicest shooting thing i've ever handled especially the trigger is really nice compared to a C7A1, granted my sample size is not that big tho.
Sigs are legit, Glock can off right fuck.

That’s nothing. Syria is loaded with bizarre fusions and counterfeits, literally.

British Army Drops FN Minimi, 60mm Mortar and L86 Light Support Weapon
Not big surprise.
The minimi while popular with troops was actually less capable than the LSW (which never shook it's image as the 'crow cannon') with the role the LSW should have been given taken over by the guccier DMR.
I don't have any experience of the 60mm mortar but from what I'm aware a lot of people would rather have stuck with the 51mm as the additional capability wasn't worth the extra weight.
this doesn't actually mirror our experience, we're looking at dropping the LSW as it lacks the volume of fire required to establish fire superiority and replacing it with 7.62 MG's entirely (seriously, a uprated rifle trying to pin down MG3's ? dont make me laugh), there's some talk about converting them to squad DMR's but i doubt it's ever going to go anywhere, the 40mm under barrel has basically replaced the flare pistol and light/commando mortars for home guard service while the army retains some 60mm pieces.
doctrine differences Razor, you know that.
the Brits went with the MILAN over the Gustav for company level AT, so they never got the "sergeants multi-tool" setup the Gustavs and RPG-7's offer, hence why they kept mortars around, plus they're pretty useful in the sort of terrain you see in say Afghanistan.
soviets were already fully mechanized by Afghanistan so could carry around 82mm mortars

Alexander actually successfully invaded Afghanistan, conquered it, founded some cities,* settled it with his Ionian veterans and then went on. Only following his death and the rule of his general Seleucus (of Seleucid dynasty fame/founding) did those veterans and their offspring declare independence, run a Greek kingdom for 300 years and their language and coinage stayed for even longer. The Afghan word for Greek is "Ionian."
*Kandahar is short for Ishkandahar or the local pronunciation of Alexander, the full name of the city was Alexandria Arachosia.
thanks, i guess

Pistol is fine, Tovarishch
Legit question here guys, no agenda behind it.
Like most Brits i've never fired a gun. But i've never really felt any great urge to do so. Can anyone explain what is so awesome about it? I've noticed that shooting fans get pretty fanatical (even by hobby standards, wall of which can get super neckbeard-ish) and absolutely love it. Whats the atttraction?
As i said, genuine question....i'm trying to phrase it in a way that doesn't sound biased, take it in the spirit its intended.
It's a bit like sex. Hence people with size deficient organs are so drawn to it.
for me it was several things the actual feeling of shooting and hitting a target is quite exhilarating because it takes skill to do, so there is also an aspect of improvement over time. And secondly for me there was a father/son thing of respect that i felt good because my dad had decided that i was responsible enough to take me shooting with him.
