Reliable & AK reliable are two different things.
An M-16 is reliable if you clean it, but you can't drag it through the mud and still fire like an AK can.

I hate to pop my posting cherry here, but a AK can and will gum up with with mud, rust and what ever the hell else. The loose tolerances do wonders to keep is slugging through things that would make other guns go "Welp" But you can't get away with shooting corrosive primers with no maintenance, AKs are pretty much packed in grease during Vietnam to keep the bolt carrier from rusting solid.

Anyway, now that my posting cherry is busted, off to talk about ponies.

Exactly why i said rugged. Plus AKs are made out of shit nowadays.

G11, for example, is a swiss watch - relentlessly reliable until you let a single grain of sand in the action.
And AR15 sucks all the dirt from before the gas intake directly in it~~~

First one is an AG-3, which i had as my service rifle untill yesterday. 2nd is a HK 416 which i got yesterday :razor:

It looks like a porn movie, while i probably will have to wait a while to test it because our government is fucked and therefor have decided to stop all fireing of steelcore enviromentaly friendly ammunition because it creates gasses when fired that can cause illness and will also wear the barrel out much faster than leadcore ammo.
Obviously there isnt any lead core ammo in storage atm lol so they had to hastily buy some but we're not a prioritized unit so i wont have any :cut:

ah well. AG is an awesome weapon anywa. Mine was made in nov 1967 and ive fired probably 2k rounds through it while on exercises with only very basic cleaning done during the exercises. (Obviously it got proper care whenever we were done) Only 2 stoppages, and both were caused because by a fucked mag.. Its accurate, good to shoot and 7.62 will never go out of fashion. Shot the marksman badge in silver at 200m after having just used it for 100 rounds or so. ( thats 10 rounds, 4x1 shots crouching, 10 sec to get a good position, take aim and fire before the stop signal is sounded, then 50 sec to fire the last 6 rounds in prone with 2 mag changes, 2 rounds in each, starting in a standing position. for bronze u need 52 or something of 100, 72 for silver and silver 5 years in a row for gold).

Anyone know how a Taurus PT111 Para 9mm 10+1 with iridum sights is? I can snag one used in good condition for $285. I've been checking around stores and such, so I may have a few more to run by you guys soon.

If you want something this compact blowbacks like Walther PPK and SIG P232 are a better choice.

Hrm. Alrighty, thank you. I hadn't realized it was that compact. I'd been exchanging emails with a local gun broker/seller in town that unfortunately lacks a brick and mortar store, and that was one of the was he suggested when I specified what I was looking for.

I am getting a CHL in July, and while a compact handgun would be easier to conceal, I'm not sure how often I'd actually use the license. I'm just getting it because the course is $75. \o/

I wish I remembered the exact model of a Taurus I fingered at one of the stores in town. It was similar or identical to a Taurus 24/7 Pro and I loved the feel of it. Personally, I have no brand loyalty (as of yet), since this would be my first handgun, it's just that they seem to be cropping up frequently in my browsing.

The newer glocks are just fine. Its just people love to troll glock owners, plus there are better guns. An upside to the glock is if you run out of ammo it can also be used as a grenade.

You may want to try asking this question someplace else, in this thread the amount of wannabe experts that never fired a gun but still know everything (I saw it on the INTERNET, it must be TRUE!!11) is reaching critical mass.

Oh, I don't know, perhaps because one is in 9x19 and the others in .380? And 600g is kinda standard for a compact these days...

Blowbacks are generally slimmer and smoother, lighter and their action is nearly infallible.
And .380's stopping power is enough to stop a man putting on his pants.

Why no Glock? I find Glocks awesome, granted I am also from Austria, but as CCW they are awesome, especially because the mags are interchangeable.
