This is why you're a fucking awful rep of the gun normal gun lobby.

No my point is that you're theoretically correct: the 9mm FMJ is far removed from the gun control legislation, and thus it makes zero sense if people were stockpiling......
hence the fact that you don't "get" why gun owners are (apparently) stockpiling 9mm FMJ is why you aren't a good representative of the gun lobby voice.
To clarify further that lobby... more specifically the constituents who most passionately back the "gun lobby" honestly believe buying 9mm FMJ is important today, because "the liberal agenda" is going to restrict it "soon" (TM etc)... which doesn't make sense given proposed restrictions (which, again and nearly circulalry, is why somebody who KNOWS that the 9mm FMJ market shouldn't be affected is not a good rep of the gun owning lobby)
edit: your observation in the BOPS thread is correct. I am merely knowingly disregarding it.
I think I'm understanding now; are you referencing their desire to ban 'military' calibers?
Edit for your edit: fair nuff o/\o
nah it has very little to do with what "might" actually be banned, and more to do with the fact that somebody who realizes "9mm FMJ" is not on the "ban" table is not a good rep for the really fucking fringe people who (apparently) believe ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BANNED and reactionarily buy out shit like 9mm FMJ even though the idea that it'd be pulled off shelves in America any time soon is patently ridiculous.
I think the majority of ammo stockpiling comes from the fact that people started stockpiling for the fear that supply would be limited because of everyone stockpiling for the fear that supply would be limited because of everyone stockpiling for the fear that supply would be limited because of everyone stockpiling for the fear that supply would be limited because of everyone stockpiling for the fear that supply would be limited because of everyone stockpiling
Sadly, I will now be part of the paranoid buying. After not being able to find ammo for weeks, it'll buy extra next time I see any in stock just so I don't have to deal with this. It's interfering with my hobby of putting holes in paper. Sadly, the types I am looking for used to be ridiculously easy to get, and are now sold out in every store, online or local.
Yeah, I'm not unfamiliar with fabricating stuff. But like you said later on, it's the tooling that gets you. When I built my truck rack (2x simple trapezoidal arches out of aluminum aircraft struts), designing and building the wood framing to hold the pieces at the right locations and angles while being welded took longer than actually building the rack. I can only imagine it'd be worse for something that has potential to blow up in my face if I do it wrong.
If I do any combustion based projectile launcher building in the near future, it'll probably be a spud cannon that isn't a massive pain to operate. At least PVC construction works a lot more like legos in that everything just snaps together.
If you are making a rifle, yea you need some tools to do so. But you can make a 12 gauge shotgun with parts from home depot:

You all do realize that these new laws are scores of pages long? And came out 5 days prior to my taking the gun in? I suspected what they told me was the case but, seeking expert opinion is preferable to figuring about 150 pages of cryptic legalese.
In fact, it even took them 3 tries to properly place my gun in the states new 'framework'.
It's exempt from being classified as an assault rifle for having a bayonet mount due to it's date of manufacture (1945). It's is classified as an assault rifle for a)being semi-automatic b)having a detachable magazine c)having a barrel shroud. Plus, the 8 round magazine is illegal.
I can sell it out of state, to a dealer, for 12months. After I can't sell it to anyone but can xfer ownership to an immediate family member. What I want to know is, where do I go to get compensated for the value of my private property they just destroyed?
Lose it in a boating accident.
