Just use some dogs and a knife. A guy I used to know would stand the the tray of a ute as someone drove beside the pig, jump off onto the pig, slit its throat and hope it was dead before they hit the ground. But he was a nutter so I wouldn't suggest doing that.

Also I can't say enough good things about my Glock 20 (10mm Auto). It would be a great weapon for backup and it shoots like a 9mm with a bit more 'push' but carries a fuckton of power. If I could only own one handgun, that'd be it.
I see people use slugs too. .45-70 will kill a lot of stuff as well and you get to use a lever action.

shotguns don't have all too high chamber pressures, so a kaboom should be not as bad as a rifle, but I have issues with the KSG for other reasons. But the KSG and UTS apparently have terrible quality control issues and Kel-tec's quality has dropped significantly when the the demand for their guns rose. Judging from a bunch of youtube videos, the UTS is pretty much an airsoft gun that can fire (if it doesn't jam or break) 12g rounds.
Tried to find an AR-15 for sale today. I could not find one under $2000, and there were only a few of those left in stores.

Should be interesting to see what the deployment of robot pack mules (and eventually, powered exoskeletons) does to the firearms and munitions loads of troops. Boston Dynamics is looking to hand off the finalized LS3 to the Marines in 2014.
