AK sights are as open and unintrusive as possible for a rifle.
please explain? the rear sight is fully hand adjustable for elevation and windage on the M-16's I was issues. It was the front sight which was semi fixed. (you needed a special tool, or a cartridge to adjust it for elevation, no windage adjustment available. )
The rear sight of an M-16 even has 2 aperture sizes available with just a flip.
