Yup, import ban. It's also why real SVD/Dragnov's are also extremely rare. SKS's used to be dirt cheap but Clinton cut off Chinese and Russian imports. Now we're stuck with former Euro East Bloc surplus. You get the occasional import through Canada but they're just as stingy with the loot.Quote:

A Sig conversion requires that you own a Sig pistol, which is about $1000, then the conversion, which is $400, and an SBR, which is $200, and 6 months of waiting.

If you're worried about image, a rifle is a much better option than a pistol. People think of rifles as hunting tools, and plinking guns for fun. A pistol serves the purpose of killing people, not much else. If I get out of the car in my apartment complex with a rifle in my hands, no one cares and I might get someone asking what my target looks like, or why I don't have a deer to bring in as well. If I walk around with my duty belt on, people look at me like I'm nuts. Again, rifle, as long as it's not an AR-15, best option.
