So I ended up picking up an Arex Rex Zero 1S in FDE. Haven't taken it to the range yet, but will soon. I have 2k rounds sitting around waiting to be used. I picked it over the CZ P-07 (and the HK USP 9c for that matter) as it's an aluminum body and has a few more features that I wanted. I was worried about the trigger weight being listed at 13lbs and 5.5lbs for the DA/SA, so I got the lighter spring sets as well. But after dry firing it a few times, I can honestly say the stock trigger pull isn't bad. The only issue I've encountered is the size of the grip. It's a bit big for me and requires me to shift it a bit to get to the mag release, but even doing so it tends to flow into a natural motion.
Admittedly, picking this instead of the more common choices had a bit to do with the "being different" shtick. Everyone I know, who is a gun owner, has either a Glock or a CZ for a pistol. Not without reason too. Both are awesome companies and make good guns, and their after market support is huge. But as I don't plan on tricking out this pistol beyond a weapon light, I don't really see the need for the extensive after market support. If this breaks down in the future, and it's a major issue, I can always replace it with something else.
As for something to pair it with...Any idea when K USA's KR-103 gets released? Ideally, I was looking at the side folding variant for it, but I suppose that can always be dealt with via after-market. But I figure, the sooner they release the fixed stock version, the quicker they get to the folding stock version. As an aside, I was looking into Zastava's M70 ZPAP with the 1.5mm trunion and chrome lined barrel, but it's after market support seems small and finicky (Yugo pattern and all). Also, prices on them and everything that becomes available quickly goes out of stock within minutes. I'm not in the market atm, but just watching and laughing. I suppose I'm one of the few who isn't in the "COVID/RIOT/POLITICS PANIC" mindset of buying up everything that becomes available.

Most of which I'm sure everyone is already aware of. If you have to use a car for cover, hide behind the engine block.
The interesting parts I thought were the RPG-7 parts, with the HEAT and the Thermobaric warheads.
the RPG-7 serves the same role as the Gustaf does, it's the Sergeants multi-tool.
need a tank popped ? call the gustaf crew, want a building demolished ? call the gustaf crew, want some specific strong-point demolished ? call the gustaf crew, need to mulch a bunch of dumbasses in the open ? call the gustaf crew, need a light or a smoke ? call the gustaf crew.
they've got a shell for every occasion.
So what's the advantage of one over the other? Just a quick perusal of the internet says the Gustav's main advantages are 2x: Better accuracy and more variety of warheads. However it's bulkier and requires a 2 person crew. I'm pretty sure the RPG system has just as many warheads as the Gustav does, and while accuracy may be less, couldn't this be solved with the fins and updated versions? Also, only requiring 1 person, would free up a 2nd person for either additional ammo or a 2nd RPG unit. Sort of reminds me of one of the reasons to go from 7.62 to 5.56: Weight savings and ability to carry more for less.
Also, price?
Gustaf's greater payload per warhead is the big one, the throw-weight of a Gustaf is 20-30% times larger than that of the RPG, it opens up a much broader scope of warheads as a result. the FFV-751 and PG-7VR both weigh around 4kg, but the Gustaf has a smaller amount mass expended on propellant as well as a significantly higher muzzle velocity at the bore, but where the PG-7 keeps accelerating until the motor runs out, the Gustaf ain't gonna get any more energy than what it gets out of the barrel. penetration wise, they're pretty close in performance, but the Gustaf goes 310 m/s and the RPG-7 goes 150'ish m/s, with the important note that there is a drop-off point where the travel time of the RPG is actually superior to the gustaf.
you can and do one-man operate a modern Gustaf by the way, it's far from ideal due to the way the blast affects you but it's quite doable with the M3 and later launchers that are just composite tubes.
the reason it's still a two man team is that the gunner is basically half-way stunned by the backblast of the Gustaf, it's actually the limiting factor on the propulsion part of the shell design, how much can it afford to injure the gunner ? that's why it's still a two man job, the second guy is there to help along the first one when it's time to leg it, as well as hump the significantly larger ammo.
in practical terms, it's a trade off, the Gustaf has more omph and flexibility in some situations, at the cost of portability.
there are some vids floating about of FFV401 shells being used by danish forces in afghanistan btw, that one turns it into a 84mm shotgun, quite literately and supposedly utterly terrifying though HE/HEDP shells where more commonly used to level compounds on demand.
Didnt know thermobaric charges was available as portable devices. Thats just nasty.

Looks like 9x19mm ammo have awful overpenetration and low stopping power.
really, he was moving after 10 shoots, one or two shoots should stop him
