I'm interested in getting a pistol for plinking. I want something that:
A) Doesn't use expensive ammunition
B) Looks cool
I live in Ohio. Recommendations?
Already have a .22 rifle, .17HMR rifle, and a 20 gauge shotgun.

Cheapest to shoot is a .22. Buck mark or a ruger are both strong choices, with decent upgrade options. My wife has a Beretta neos that is cheap to buy and distinctive looking.
a .22 pistol is going to be the cheapest for you, unless you want something with more recoil for some reason. In which case, I guess you're best off going 9mm. I'm unsure of exact prices but I know it's cheaper than my .380
Get a .45 and impress your friends and women!
I was going to suggest getting an ak74 pistol and shooting that dirt cheap milsurp, but apparently there is some legal Hurf blurf regarding pistols and steel core ammo... Apparently the ATF regards *any* steel core ammo as armor piercing, and the moment ak74 pistols become popular, the ATF would jump on the opportunity to classify the 5.45 round as a pistol round round, effectively banning all the deliciously cheap steel core ammo imports :psyduck:
GSG-5. It looks just like an MP-5, but it's chambered for .22LR and is semi-auto instead of full. It's still pretty much the ultimate plinking gun and has loads of modifications available.
Well, sold my ar-15 to my older brother. I feel lonely and need to purchase another firearm to fill this hole. Was thinking of getting a 9mm pistol of some variety.
I don't think I can part way with any of my guns, I like them all too much. I just bought an M1A a couple of weeks ago and although I should probably wait a while, the M&P series has caught my attention. I don't have any experience with them, but they seem like very nice.
Only applies to 7.62x39 ammo and that was from way back in the 90's. http://www.thegunzone.com/762x39.html
5.45x39 is steel and bimetal cored and still legal. Not only legal but super cheap. On the other hand many gun ranges don't like the stuff as their range nazis are full of fail and think that the soft mild steel will blow holes through their hardened armor plate backers and have banned it.
Second, why would you buy an AK-74 pistol? Can't aim for crap, has worse ballistics than many pistol rounds, are pretty finiky to anything other than milsurp, and are LOUD. Oh and cost a lot more than a full sized rifle.
As for a .22lr, there's always the trusty Ruger 10/22. Lots of attachments, mods, and improvement parts made for it.
If ak74 pistols become as popular as the ak47 ones, then id bet a pretty penny that the BATF will jump on the opportuny to ban the 5.45 round. As for "why an ak 74 pistol?" Well, he specified wanted a pistol, so I half jokingly suggested what technically is a pistol. But yea, personally I'd love to get any weapon that's chambered in 5.45 because it is so freaking cheap right now (cheapest centerfire cartridge out there)
I'm not sure why people still carry guns for self-defense when tasers are perfectly good tools to use, with less physical trauma and what I assume is lower lethality rates. Tasers > guns.
Shitty cell pic of my new one. Wanted something punchier than a .223 or 7.62x39, so I settled on this .308 AR. Shoots nice so far, $30 Amazon chinese scope is garbage, need to get something better for it. The one behind it is my older one, Rock River Operator 2 .223, also amazing.

They can't sue you if they're dead
tazer is better than nothing if the attacker is unarmed, and I know some people who carry one instead of a gun, but the civilian model's range sucks, and you only get one shot. Also unless its one of newer and/or cop models with the shaped pulse tech, a thick jacket can defeat it. Also, if the attacker is especially violent, you are sort of left with the option of either trying to outrun a really pissed off dude after you taze him, or hoping that your tazer has enough charge left so you can keep zapping him until the cops arrive. If there's more than one attacker, then you are fucked, period.
I think I want a vz 58.
Maybe he wants a short stroke piston? They're a lot lighter on recoil.
The same reason why you carry extra mags. What happens if there's more than x attackers? For a taser, that's more than 1 attacker. In a situation where you're in a back alley or something it's pretty likely there is more than one. The argument against carrying extra mags isn't quite as strong, but still pretty sturdy anyway. Yea, it's pretty likely that there's not more than 9 targets(My CWP pistol holds 9+1), but what are you going to do when there actually ARE 10 targets? Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
Additionally, if I reach a point where I need to use force against someone, why wouldn't I use lethal force? Honestly, what gain do I have by using a taser or pepper spray on a target who's intentions were to kill or harm me? Even if it does stop him, he'll just sue me for everything I'm worth in court, claiming he was just trying to bum a smoke or something. If you kill him, it's your word against a dead man's, and stiffs don't talk much. It may sound brutal, and maybe it is, but when put in the position of my life or someone else, I'm going to choose my life over his every time.
