I figured out what evegate does!

It allows me to check alliance mail spam on spy characters without actually logging in. This is actually really useful when those mouthbreathers send out 10 per day

TBH, not being able to easily access this in game (fuck loading the web browser) is its biggest downfall. No I don’t think allowing it would help it any because lol eve gate, but it was the killer on release day.

I still know people that don’t know you can access your in game mail via the web (or that there is a calendar in game now)
