View Full Version : [Buckingham] Dust items on the market

So I went on the new test server to take a look a the newest set of Dust items. There is stuff here not yet implemented or available in the current Dust build.

Augmentations
>Boosters
>>Active Boosters
These give you 50% more SP reward at the end of each match you play
>>Passive Boosters
These are new and appear to be how your 'non-primary' clones can accrue SP passively. Without one they would not accrue SP passively at all. Current rate is 1 SP/4 secs or about 750,000 SP per year.
>Universal Voice Transmitters
These allow players to speak in channels and to corp members when NOT in a match. A bit controversial, similar to when CCP decided they would charge for Eve Voice (but never did in the end).

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Mike deVoid again.

You missed a few things, for example there are similar variations of Heavy suits and logistics suits like for the assault (with other specs ofc)
Also there is a new Crusader, Pilot aswell as a gallente commando type I class dropsuits.
Also a scrambler (pulselaser) assaultrifle.
But aside from that you got pretty much all the things.

nay

Those things didn't have any descriptions or hints about what makes them different which is why I left them out.

Can be hidden on the minimap unless some has direct view of you or you are making noise (i.e. shooting, sprinting)

Buckingham now also has the first integration of the district system.

http://s7.directupload.net/images/120913/vjnnvmcg.jpg

Connecting does fail because there are no active battles on that district, also on the left you can see a little indicator on how many% of the districts you faction holds.

That is from a recent update? I checked things out last week and all I saw were the megacity textures marking the districts on temperate planets - no borders or UI. Looks good so far.

Just checked. I wonder how they do the graphics for the district borders.

If planets rotated before they don't anymore. I bookmarked a district on the terminator a few days ago and it's still there. Hoping for day-night cycles to mix up matches.

Mike deVoid
September 13 2012, 07:05:43 PM
They did used to rotate :(

Nu11u5
September 13 2012, 07:47:52 PM
They could do it, but they would have to teach the physics engine two types of coordinate systems - in space, and in orbit.

The 'in orbit' system would be a rotating reference frame subset into the 'in space' system. It would also open up the ability to have dynamic systems with moving planets.

They could also cheat and make orbiting above a district put you in a separate sim, and just spin the sky around you. Scanning someone down would return a fake object, warping to one would move you to the alt sim, warping out would put you back. This alt simulation could also be closer tied to Dust allowing more RT information. That's how I would do it anyway - no idea on CCP's implementation.

The indicator got a proper description now.
I hope that isnt all there is to the way DUST influences FW else it will be pretty meh

So having planetary dominance makes is easier to defend/attack a system and make it vulnerable. That's interesting. If there is no similar reduction in LP payout it will actually make it easier to farm LP since once a system reaches 100% it is vulnerable and LP payouts stop

Resi
September 14 2012, 05:41:30 PM
The obvious solution is to have the star rotate around the planets

Adding a new channel is different now. The chat settings allow you to exclude dust players and and their chat from them if you want

Dropsuit skills made hierarchical:

Dropsuit Command 1 - Unlocks Assault Suits
Dropsuit Command 2 - Unlocks Scout and Logistics Suits
Dropsuit Command 3 - Unlocks Heavy suits
Dropsuit Command 4 -
Dropsuit Command 5 - Unlocks Specialization Suits

As well as the -5% reduction to your profile signature per level.

Bonus video of GamesCon build (someone said the gfx/lighting/shaders look better but I can't tell)

No missiles - Projectile, Hybrid, and Laser only. The types off effects sound decent.

With the current stats we can assume that OB ammo will not cause any damage against ships.

I've never realized until now how shit the laser crystal icons are. All of the OB ammo uses brand new icons.

So volatility means that the bombardment crystals have 4000 shots?

So volatility means that the bombardment crystals have 4000 shots?

Very unlikely.

Volatility implies slightly randomised decay (a la crystals). My guess would be a mean decay of 1000 semi-randomised between 0 and 2000

My guess is that open beta will begin in about 2 weeks time.

Mate volatility is already an attribute of faction and T2 crystals..

Was the sound quality just low in the gamescom video, or is there essentially no bass notes in Dust's sound design?

Mike deVoid
September 29 2012, 10:32:03 AM
They probably played it thru a TV. The sound in beta is being improved alongside the graphics improvements but there are definitely bass notes in parts of the sounds.

I hope DUST sounds better than the gamescom video does upon release; the weapon fire sounded particularly unimpressive.

Was it just the shitty free civilian stuff? Or the good weapons?

It looks like they had a camera filming a screen, which means all the sound is being picked up through a microphone. Built-in microphones have a really hard time picking up low frequencies.

Lots of reviews panning the beta versions of dust out there now. No idea why CCP relaxed / stopped enforcing the NDA to allow them, given how "beta" the beta still is.

The latest build received a fair amount of polish but it's still missing features. They could probably get things hammered down nicely by late December or January.

Probably going to be forced to release by late November latest to garner some holiday appeal.
