http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iOeFPE8574 watch from 2:40 for a couple of min.

I was re-watching this the other day and I couldn't help thinking it was watching scenes like this as a kid that made the idea of eve online so appealing to me as an adult.

I think it would be kick ass if you could hit a button and you would enter '1st person' mode on your ship where you could manually control it in space-simulator mode. I'd much rather something like that than WiS or Dust.

Picture flying your Wolf in a big fleet engagement strafing a battleship, outrunning heavy missiles in your interceptor or sitting on the command deck of a dreadnought in siege laying waste to enemy capitals.

Would this even be feasible? Am I posting in the wrong section?

No? Just me?

I think CCP have said that due the the physics engine, destiny, it isn't really a possibility. Can't remember which forum post/video I saw it in tho.

Because the EVE simulation is run on both server and all clients, with only the changes being sent to correct client simulations. So a ship can fly perfectly smoothly despite only being updated every minute or so when the player changes direction.

This won't work for manually flying a ship, cause then one comes into FPS territory where you need to send updates half a dozen times per second to feel smooth.
