I'm thinking out loud here. We have reggdate, p0stcount but what about achievements? Mods can make a collection of positive/negative achievements like "shitposter" for posting 100 shitposts in the last month (iteration data stored in db, if it reaches a threshold user gets the achievement). There is a lot of possibilities. It doesn't fill a practical function other than giving users an incentive, and it gives the board some extra personality.

Suggestion may or may not be horrible.

It is really not the most brain-straining of exercises to think this practise through. Al Simmons may be as rapaciously butthurt as butthurt can be, doesn't change the point that a lot of threads that could have developed into fruitful discussions were locked. If I really have to, I'll browse for the locked threads and give you concrete examples of perfectly good subjects which day threads could not have provided a discussion for.

Until this policy changes, it's just a half-hearted way of reducing the amount of posts people make. Maintaining superficial discussions only adds to what you've earlier identified as a problem, namely shit posting. It's counterproductive and anti-educational.

Well, I don't know if you noticed, but I actually tended to stay out of the "lolGlennBeck" threads, or at least just post like one reply and then go about my business. The actual "lolUS" threads about you know, horrendous debt or Republicans or hideously hypocritical foreign policy, yeah i'd post in them, because they were actual things that you could say something bad about. You might think i'm biased, but the majority of the counter "lolUK" threads were shit the Daily Mail would think twice about printing, ya dig? It isn't my fault your country dominates a lot of the news on the internet, due to a lot of Americans and American websites being on the internet, and also due to the massive amounts of abuses and bullshit your government pulls day in day out.

as i have said several times, do not look at me for moderation.

i do not plan to run the community or enforce rules over it, i just set a few "rules" (protecting your privacy, keeping it simple, maybe helping it stay alive every now and then) and that's it. the rest will be run by the community at it sees itself fit.

you can go back and read the announcement i did originally, if the majority of you guys want something, i will attempt to accommodate that for you, that is all - i will not moderate (unless i am bored/drunk) for the very simple reason that i like drama 8-)

Mods moderate, Super mods or Admins moderate the mods. That's how a forum is supposed to work. So you have said you don't care about moderation, and as has Don privately to me. So basically you're just letting the mods run wild and do whatever they want, which would be ok if they were sensible grown-ups, but instead they are no better than your average shitposter.

Now I don't in fact know which particular mod is banning me or moving threads or just generally being shit all round. Every mod tells me the other one did it. What we need is some accountability, I suggest an automatic "edited by ..." line whenever a thread is locked/moved/deleted and a poster is banned. That way the mods wouldn't be able to hide behind anonymity and point fingers at each other and giggle.
