I have some left over tax return that is burning a hole in my pocket, and I want a new computer speaker setup.
Any recommendations for setups in the $100-300 range?
Also feel free to post your audio setups.

In that price range you could get a pair of these:

I had to use headphones pretty much exclusively for a while on the pc because of certain flatmates/neighbours and picked up these a while ago to have some decent sound. Gives a great audio experience without cluttering your desk with a big neckbeard audio setup, and I'm not switching back to speakers despite no longer living with said flatmates.

I have some Denon headphones... much cheaper... good quality, though. I'd give 'em a thumbs up.

I have a Sennheiser 170 currently out of commission and in need of soldering thanks to a vacuum cleaner. Best headset's I've ever had for 50 bucks.

Sennheiser PC 161 non USB here, if you're only after headphones look into their HD line.
Excellent sound, not crippled by the usual too much bass nothing else disease some suffer.

nah i wouldnt wear them outside of the house as they have bad spill/isolation. for travelling about i like sennie hd-25sp's. the sennies are nice but i think the grado's have a flatter response / nicer sound. i bought a pair for my old man as they are nice. i think i had sr-80's or sr 125's or something. they got blown up by a cunt spamming gank night TS after we killed his ferox so now i tend not to use my nice headphones on the computer :x
(but yes i did live in williamsburg for a bit :P )

Those Alesis M1s, M-audio MV30/MV40/BX5a, Audioengine A5, KRK RP5, and some Swan speakers that I'm drawing a blank on are the usual suggestions for budget powered monitors. If you've already got an amp/receiver with your computer setup, that would change the options some.

plugged into my replacement mixer. A mixer is important imo, I'm always tinkering with the equalizer.
found them on sale 100€ which was win. Nice bass, crystal high, powerful and compact.
love'em
