View Full Version : Smelling good/shit/not giving a fuck

Few weeks ago I bought a new aftershave. Got home, broke the seal and FUCK, not the bottle I was actually going for. NM I thought, same brand, same label, just different package.
Did NOT smell the same. Flowery as fuck. :cut:

I like the saw dust/cedar tones. Citrus works too but it has to be the under tone, not the main part.

Anyway.

THIS was what I wanted:
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/2302/guccinom.jpg
Nice cedar tone, a bit saw dust. Standard citrus hint. Not very homo.

this is what I ended up with:
http://img857.imageshack.us/img857/8605/guccibleh.jpg
Smells like a 70+ lady. Flowery as hell and a hint of moth balls. Jesus wept, it's so homo.

Usually I go with this:
http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/7457/hugoxynom.jpg
It's a very simple combination. Nothing special but nice and good enough for every day use.

As a backup I have:
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3522/bjornborg.jpg
More of a "sporty" after shave. Hints of cedar. A bit "rougher" than the Hugo XY

So, what do ya guys use? Old Spice?

Yup.

Well, not the traditional stuff, the White Water version they brought out. I have some Armani shit in a black bottle that seems to be liked.

I've got Gucchi by Gucchi, the sports version, quite like it, I dunno if it smells like a 70 year old woman, although it has been quite some time since I've smelt one of those, much to my own disappointment of course.

I dunno, I've always quite liked Africa.

I don't see the point in spending loads and loads. As long as I don't smell like a cheap toilet descaler I'm pretty ok with it.

Might be that it's my body chemistry that makes it smell so "grandma-like". But is it the white pack or the grey pack you got? Both went by the same "Gucci by Gucci" label and were on the same fucking shelf. Raged hard when I tried it on instead of just going back to have it changed.

haha true :)

At least I put something on, though... I know a couple of people who don't. Is unpleasant.

You're proceeding from a false assumption. I made no claims that smelling good does not equate to great :)

Just that I don't bother to spend a lot myself. Maybe I'm only mediocre, I can live with that.

I don't wear cologne all the time but when I do I tend to just go with Armarni Code. Seems to have done me just fine so far.

It's the white one I got, did you get the sports edition?

The aftershave bottle design reminds me of a hand grenade, pretty neat actually.

Lynx on a day-to-day basis. If I'm off somewhere special, then it's Issey Miyake (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Issey-Miyake-100ml-Aftershave-Splash/dp/B0007W5BFA).

Reasonable daily use should last you 2 years, so $70 is no big deal.

Great scent, not very common. No chance that it will be ruined by mass adoption.

Day to day I use Lynx Fever, mainly because I fucking love the smell of oranges.
If I'm being a tart, then I'll usually go for Joop.
For more sombre gatherings, I actually use Old Spice.

There are quite a few internet hardmen itt. Just wait until someone in you vicinity tells you that BO is for eastern european labor force. Had to do this not long ago. Dude was emitting serious waves of stale sweat and had been for a while.
