Well I found a old 3rd generation 20gb ipod at a garage sale this weekend for $5- no cord but he said it "works". Anyway I got home and tried plugging it into a charger for a while and it does nothing. Blank screen no response even if its plugged in. Since I know nothing about ipods I knew I must post a thread to find out the problem. If its simply a dead battery they are cheap and I'd replace it. What I want to know is if its most likely something else like just a bad logic board or something before I go wasting a few dollars on a battery :D

I think what he might be getting at is $5 for a 20gb ipod is fucking cheap, I'm not that up on ipods but to be that size it would have to be a ipod touch?

Also size wise don't they normally come in 2gb/4gb/8gb/16gb etc etc.

3rd gen iPod is pretty old, it doesn't even have a colour screen. Probably this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1353#clickwheel

Its actually one gen older than the one you linked. But if it still worked I wouldn't mind putting another $8- into it for a new battery.

all products made by apple have built in self destructs to make sure the user buys the new model in due course to keep fueling apples $78 billion wad of cash.

you, buying second hand, were duped into thinking apple made a quality product that would last. silly you.
