Returned to eve (don't hate) and would like to fraps some engagements.

I used to fraps quite a bit, that was a few years ago though and I was recording at 4:3 ratio, 1280x1024 or whatever the standard was at the time, with only 1 client.

I grabbed the registered and most recent version from friend, and ran it for a few seconds to test it out. 10-15 seconds of recording at 1900x1200 used over 650MB of HD space. :o Seems silly to use all that HD space just to resize the footage to 1080p later in premier. Is there any way to record at standard 1080p or 720p while still using full resolution in the game? If not I'll have to either get a new HD or resize eve to 1900x1080. Infact I might get another HD anyway :/

I recorded a bit at 1/2 quality... was blurry and terrible.

Im not 100% sure but I think you have to record in the same resolution as you play. At least thats how it used to work.
And yes. HD will make your HDD's cry and call you names.

That's the price you pay :) I get about 1gb/minute of footage, including sound. 1080p frapsing, 30fps.

real men buy large hard drives just for fraps B)

Yeah I'll probably just buy a 1TB drive and accept that its the fraps drive :/

You can get away with 500gb easily, VERY easily if you keep it tidy.

If you have enough latent CPU power, just write a script to pull files from your source directory that haven't been updated in 15 seconds, re encode using a high quality codec w/ FFMpeg at a lower resolution and dump them somewhere else. I'd be surprised if somebody actually hasn't written something like that in the first place.

How much better is it then fraps? Because fraps rapes my pc while running 2 accounts.

I can only give you benchmarks from Darkfall but I get FAR better FPS using Bandicam - I drop from like ~150 to ~120 whereas with Fraps & PlayClaw it's a drop to below 100.

Go try it - no recording limit on the trial, just a relatively small watermark.

A legitimate question without you calling me a faggot etc.

Does Bandicam get good video quality? Does it save as a .avi or? I'd be interested in trying it for the performance increase but don't want to sacrifice quality.

This is how it looks straight from Bandicam to YouTube (no editing, no compression):

So yes, it gets good video quality.

Running 2 eve accounts and fraps is hard enough as it is :P Last thing I need is CPU being like "brb, encoding huge files"

Just because it was the first result on YouTube for EVE Online + Bandicam:

Sorry but I happened to lols a bit. :D

That said, multi-account and fraps is tough as it is (fraps dies when you switch screens, or at least it used to?).
CPU/GFX utilization between fraps and bandicam?

I fraps one client and switch to the other without any problems. Ever. (Fraps still records the client I started frapsing on, it itself doesn't switch focus)

Ah, good to know. I have a memory of that NOT being the case before, at least I know that it didnt work for me. Then again, thats a few years back... :P
