Drink?
Can we have alcohol threads here or will Viper drag us off to re-education camps if we try that?
Cause I'm drinking a kind of, I dunno, I guess you'd call it a Cognac Sour right now if you were an ignorant fuck about cocktail terminology like I am and it's fucking delicious
4 ice cubes
1/4 lime squeezed over the ice then wiped around the rim of the glass
1 shot limoncello (chilled)
3 shots cheap-ass cognac (chilled)

the cement mixer
2 shots Irish Cream
1 shot pure lemon juice
put the cream in ones mouth then add the lemon, swish around mouth until unbearable/sick, mantest is whether or not one can hold it for 15 secs then swallow

I'm not sure that sounds like such a great combo to me. Are you using red or white wine as a base?

there is only one cocktail to end all cocktails. mojito, baby.
easy to make, yet many people manage to fuck it up one way or the other, so here is how it's really done:
press 1/2 lime, pour the juice in your glass.
add a teaspoon of white sugar. stirr.
add mint, lightly crush the stems - for the love of everything that is holy in mojitoland don't damage the leaves themselves!
slice up the rest of your lime, add to glass and press them very lightly, again we don't want the mint leaves damaged.
fill your glass with ice cubes.
pour white rum (with brown rum it just looks nasty and the more intensive taste will overpower the mint) till its half full, stirr.
top it up with soda, stirr again.
enjoy your drink and realize that all the mojitos you had before that didn't live up to it's full potential.

Out of curiosity - why is it so important not to damage the leaves?
Also: a properly made gin & tonic beats a mojito but dont feel bad it beats p. much everything.

instead of minty goodness you will get "ugh, bitter"
gin & tonic is nice, but for me it just lacks the special something

I dont understand, a good G&T is liquid brilliance. Maybe you never had it made right? Here's a thought: most bars make a shitty G&T in my experience. You need to make it right.
(1) Put 2 tall glasses per person in the freezer. Freeze those glasses good and hard.
(2) The gin should be in the freezer too.
(3) And some ice. And the freezer should be cold. Like things should be dry and sticky because they're freezing the moisture on your fingertips.
(4) If, when you pick the glasses up, some skin peels away and stick to the glass, you're doing it right.
(5) Squeeze 1/4 lime into the glass and then wipe the hull round the edge
(6) Put 4-5 god damb cold ice cubes into the glass
(7) Put about 50-75 ml of good COLD gin into the glass, Tanqueray (sp?) is good, also Hendricks, Bombay Sapph, Plymouth... depending on taste
(8) Put in another 1/4 of the lime
(9) Fill glass to the 80% mark with a good quality tonic like Fever Tree or Fentimans (do not cheap out on the tonic, most tonic water is horrible shite these days)
(10) Drink the liquid awesome.
(11) replace empty glass into the freezer, use other glass already in there to make the next one.

Alcohol content being used as a selling point for the beer? Now that is just silly.

Confirming this. I usually go Bombay personally, it's nostalgia to two years ago when me and me roommates went impromptu gin-tasting. Bolded the bit that everyone forgets.
Also, mint juleps = fucking delicious, and fucking simple. Muddle mint sprigs and sugar with just enough ice water to get the juices flowing. Add 4-5 ice cubes. Pour in ice-cold bourbon, stir, enjoy. Should look nice and cloudy, and the sugar should offset the bite of the bourbon to make something fucking delicious.
If you want quantities, you can try:
4 fresh mint sprigs
2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 tsp powdered sugar
2 tsp water
but you'll figure it out as you taste it.
