Ok.

So, is there/what is the equivalent to a decently fit Rifter/Nano Rupture, how long does it take to skill into it well enough to shoot someone, and how much grind does it take to keep yourself in them for regular pew?

Are there implants/podding?

We just PvPed.

We forgot about AoE on death and one death caused a chain death of half the fleet. it was epic.

Battle report? Tell me more?

The sensor-damp effect on blobs and AOE on death thing sounds just awesome to me. Built in solo-player mechanics...

What about time to be effective with Rupture-like equivalent in this game?

I.E how long do I have to sup before I can have enough SP to solo pew?

We ran around, found an artemis, chased it while dodging in and out of the way as we got shot, every so often locking. Took a teleporter and I guessed right on where he went (jump gate w/ two destinations). Eventually a friend joined him, they kept running/kiting. Eventually, a third joined and they popped one gy who's explosion caused a chain reaction, and most of us died. I was already hurt and was hanging back, so I died several seconds later. All in all, we managed to get the artemis to 3/5 health. Next time out, some of us spent what we needed to to get demobilizers (webs), but there was a fuckton of them when we jumped in (Two different groups, not sure if they fought eachother first or not), so we died in a fire.

Thanks, that sounds kind of cool.

So webs are a go, but no scram equiv, because no warping.

Are there any mechanics that are more complex than eve in pvp, or is it just simpler/different?

Second day in game and I got my first roam under my belt, went out with 3x assaults+ me in a light(ship you get from the tutorial!). Avoided blob because lights can see farther than other classes and using it to scout= knowing when to go another way. We were paranoid about being seen by scouts then getting blue balled. We got behind a camp and ganked a RG "officer" in a mech that's worth more than our whole group. Took the loot(full t4!) and didn't lose it.

Tons of crappy stand off's like eve ensued. Mostly we were siting on a teleporter ontop of a hill. The group on the otherside wouldn't jump into us point blank because they had a range advantage on us. Also there was lots of cover around the teleport and we'd be in the open if we jumped in. We wouldn't leave the hill to chase their other bot because if they had the high ground we would be fucked worse range wise as we can't shoot through the hill. The other bot wouldn't charge up the hill because he'd get raped solo. Eventually they WALK the long way around to charge us (rather than jumping in). We jump through take the cover and ofc they refuse to follow.

Combat is pretty awesome, if your going to xplode you run towards the enemy to deal damage to them. If you can time it right (easy with missiles, low rof) you peak from behind a corner to shoot a volley then duck back. Individual skills seems like a priority because of this. Its pretty funny watching someone at the bottom of a hill have their rail guns slap directly into the dirt while you shoot them. Also pretty cool when you go down the edge of a hill just a little bit so people ontop of the hill can't hit you but your missiles can arch over the bump of the hill.

Demobilizers(webs) are tackle and pretty important as it means your gang can catch up to someone/ get a good angle to fire at them. Suppressors (damps) are probably good for charging through bad terrain/preventing being kited. Neuts shut off guns, ecm breaks locks (20 second lock time on the noob ship ffs!?) Expect to see an ECM ship sitting behind a wall so you can't shoot him breaking your lock.

Oh and some terrain (plants) will take shots for you but will eventually explode so the type of cover your taking is important.

AOE death!?

I remember going critical in mw4 while running back to my teammates, a chain reaction occurred and we lost a really important match (we lost the planet)

Are there equivalents of tech 2 cruisers in this game? Would love to get either something fast and decently hard hitting or a specialised bot like Logistics, stealth or ECM. Seen a bunch of different Robot and Mech classes, but have no clue so far which do what.

I read somewhere there are tiny EW bots out there, which probably aren't that hard to get into. I guess I will first grab one of those.

Found a German guide on this topic about how to best get straight into one of the EW bots to be credit to PVP from day one:
http://saeder-krupp.net/viewtopic.php?f ... p=236#p236 (http://saeder-krupp.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=86&p=236#p236)

Follow the pics, I guess, but if there's demand I might :effort: and translate it for the rest.

Cameleon sounds p cool. Don't think I'm allowed one on a trial though unless I'm just not understanding the market (or not being at a suitable trade hub).

The trial restrictions in Perpetuum are literally hitler, tbh. :?

Ah well, the monthly sub cost is slightly less than EVE's so I might just activate for now just to be able to reach an informed opinion on whether or not I want to continue playing it.

I just added the subscription right away. It is cheap and feeling like a noob is bad enough, much less a trial noob.

Yeah, my train of thought exactly.

Will probably sub before I log in later.

$10 and there are no PLEX or equivalent. Also, there is a free 15-day trial, but it doesn't let you join corps, pm people, or trade with people. However, you still get the extra 15 days when you subscribe.
