inb4: There's no API for CEVE!

I just tried getting a user created XML into EveMon (sort of.)

I created a blank character within EveMon, using my racial settings. That worked.
I then tried editing in my actual attributes to the XML, including what I'd learned from learning skills and my implants, because there's no function to add implants without the API. That worked.
I then made a skill plan with all the skills I currently have, and exported the state of the character after the skills are learned to a new document. That worked.
I then edited in the newly learned skills to the character's XML and loaded it in EveMon. That sort of worked.
However, my skills don't show up in the skill screen in EveMon.

I failed a couple of times with error messages from EveMon when loading the newly skilled character. Something about serializable uri, so maybe you need a correct serial matching the details in the XML to load it. I doubt it but it might be something someone more technical than me can look at.

I do not know what else to try.

I did the same and couldn't get it to do anything. Anyone got connections to the Evemon team?

don't they keep an archive of old versions? If so just get one from before learning skills were killed off.

Probably causes all kinds of errors if you import a sheet with non-existent entries.

I too have been messing around with the XML files with no luck. I constantly get funny errors, and when I was checking the battleclinic forum I noticed something interesting. In the latest version of evemon it supports a blank character creator! You just pick your race etc, and it loads you out with the starting skills and you can build a plan from there. Functionally, you would still need to manually edit everything but it still helps you plan stuff out. Of course it being the newest version of evemon it doesn't support learning skills.

The option is under 'tools' when you open up evemon, hopefully this lets everyone at least get a plan together on what they want/need.

...

Actually, fuck dat shit, it's been very heavily localized.

Easiest way is to download an old RC http://evemon.static.battleclinic.com/builds/rc/installers/
Im using 2446, and import a character xml, template here: http://eve-files.com/dl/244253

This RC does appear to fuck with a regular eve mon installation, so please backup before using.

I just figured out something in EveMon

If you follow my steps in the original post, and import the "After Plan Character" and edit that into a blank character XML. When you go to make a new plan, those skills will show up as already trained. That means you can make new plans, and optimize for them without having to go back over the old skills you already know.

It's only the main skill screen that relies on the API the Skill Planner uses the XML. You just can't see your skills very well.
