Most expensive ship in the game currently. Wiki link here (http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Anaconda).

It looks like a WW2 German E-boat (http://www.shipwreckfilms.co.uk/_wp_generated/wpeb88615d.png) and a Star Destroyer had a baby.

Best trade ship in the game. Better than the Type9 on all levels except you lose around 50tons of cargo. But thats a small price to pay in order to be able to actually jump reasonable distances and steer.

Can fit class4 derp gun and xbawxhueg plasma accel. lel

Can fit the best Power Distrub in the game for maximum pew pew - you need it too as it has an insane number of hardpoints.

Its handling isnt on par with the "omg this is probably broken/op" Clipper, but then I cant afford the 57mil Aspec engines for it yet.

Not used it in combat but its fixed wep layout is superb, and even with just a full selection of gimbled pulses it will no doubt utterly crush other Elite Condas.

Would buy again.

edit: insurance and fuel costs suck.. but then its not for poorfags innit.

Yeah. Ill probably end up using it mainly for trading, and build up the cash for the new vulture - which is coming at some point - for pewpew.

Wouldnt use it in PvP. You are honeslty better off with a cobra or viper. Repairs and insurance are just too much for what you gain in damage potential/tanking.

Maybe PvE if they introduce group stuff with the wave mechanic from the combat trainer. Or when thargoids appear.

Its a self perpetuating cycle. Get richer to buy fancy ship that makes more money, need cr for a proper fit, earn more cr, almost get fit but can afford better ship already, go to 1

Protip. When you know you are about to hit the station, all power to shields. It makes them stronger as well as recharge faster. Did it twice in my asp. First time was 75+% damage, 2nd I smashed shields to full and nothing. Just bounced. Then I had 30 seconds to get outside..

so how's the performance ? the Viper is obviously a fighter, the Python straddles the line between heavy fighter and Corvette, but does the Anaconda go full-on into light frigate territory, or is it "just" a "heavy" corvette ?

are you entirely reliant on gimbal/turreted stuff with just the class 4 as a fixed mount, or is it nimble enough to have at least some fixed-forward mounts ?

Yeah did that.

Its a heavy ship and at the time I had bad thrusters and just a D4 shield - trader fit - so still took a sizeable hit due to me miscalculating the inertia it had.

Tried to make gimbled work - basically a big version of my clipper fit.

It sucked.

Tried turrets for lolz.

Also terrible, as it's so fucking slow. Which doenst work when all your weps are inaccurate, low dps peices of shit.

Given its amazing power grid I decided to go for 4 rails (2xc2 2xc1) on the underside, and 4 FIXED beams (2xc3 2xc2) up top. Use it as a sniping boat as its turn rate is pretty damn good with B7 thrusters.

Rapes everything with pin point accuracy from 1.5km to 3km - making lack of speed not so painful. Closer and you dont get as good convergence but it doesnt matter.

Fixed weapons are EXTREMELY viable on this ship.

Updated to take into account how hilarious turrets can be currently - as they seem to be completely immune to chaff - so this weapon layout would also work in PVP.

Would need to fit with A7 shield gens, mil armour, and some size 6 shield cells for that though. Too expensive to repair/replace for what you get. Stick with viper/cobra/asp for PVP imo.

Disable boosters to get shields up again faster :D
No idea if this build is viable in anything other than PVE, still need more cash to get the parts. Might be viable in PVP with A8 power plant and several A6 shield cells.

Edit: turns out each booster adds a fixed amount based on the base value of your fitted shield, and is not multiplicative (unlike what the numbers here suggested). Making this idea much much much less awesome. Still pretty fun though.

Dropped the 2 right side fixed pulses for gimbles as under 1km its pretty tough to get all 4 fixed on target - unless its a conda/python/T9 etc - so you end up just wasting cap.

The gimbles have an interesting side effect of allowing me to get all 4 turrets and both gimbles overlapping on a target when holding the enemy ship at a negative 10deg pitch below the center line. Something that wasnt possible before as the turrets have a limited vertical arc that stops just short of the fixed gun arc. Absolutely chews though powerplants.

Still got the left hand side fixed pulses for anything over 2km away or chaff spammers. Turrets still seem to give 0 fucks about chaff, but arent great at ranges over 2km.

Splitting the guns to left side mouse button / right side mouse button also gives me a bit more control over cap usage. So I can choose what I fire depending on the situation.

Dropped a shield booster for chaff just to piss off the vulture/viper pilots who rely on gimbles. Still has a silly silly buffer to chew through.

Met anothe 'conda player in a conflict zone he swore A rated thrusters make all the difference. Said he didn't really like it before he got those on.

I dont like class 4 weps. Thier projectile velocity is shit, requiring a fast ship to maintain and close range. So they only work ok (debatable) on the FDL currently, not on something whose best speed is 260.

If there were huge pulse or mcannons id rethink the layout. Maybe.

I can hit anything from up close out to 3km just fine with the fixed thanks. Mouse>Joystick. The issue i was having was the ships fault - due to hardpoint convergence - not my aim.

Dropping target and using 4 gimbles as fixed just reapplies the same problem I just solved...

Being reliant on gimbles is not something Im interested in either - chaff is still prevelent even in the age of the booster. Gimbles do less dmg, and have issues with accuracy in the 1.5 to 3km band.

Could squeeze on A by dropping the KWS to an E, but tbh C is perfectly fine in terms of turn rate. Better resists to protect my powerplant is more a priority currently.

Got one, derped into the side of a station, had to downgrade FSD to keep insurance coverage after. Would do again. Pleasant boat for sure. Worth skipping Type-9 for.

Planned upgrades:
Getting back the old FSD.
A Class 8 power distributor so I can actually boost.
The rest. (D rated combat fit)
The icing on the cake (A grade powerplant/Thursters)
Skipping because Federal Corvette got released (A grade all the things)

ps. Don't forget to fit Shield boosters, it just might be what saves your ship when trying to tackle a station.

You're just lucky they changed the repair costs. Its cheap as fuck now. Used to be 40k per 1% :/

Fed Vette got what now? I havent played much recently, not far off Elite combat rank but feeling burnt out.

Wasn't repair costs I was paying, but full blown replacement. Including cargo lost ~8 million. A not inconsiderable sum.

As for the corvette, just that the chance of me having a fully A fitted Anaconda would be nil as I'd be distracted by new shiny toys released in the meanwhile.

Its a really good ship, much nimbler (in rotation) then I expected. But taking-off/landing (i.e. lateral thruster inertia) is starting to get on my nerves. Who made those letterboxes so tiny! Any other traffic is present and everything comes to a dead stop. :/
