OK episode, not great, which is good considering it is a Spike episode.

Fluttershy hulking out was great though. Rarity was also written pretty damn good too.

It turned out much better than I expected it to. It was completely silly, but the writing for Rarity was indeed stellar, and the plot points set up for the overall episode worked out pretty well. It was also a nice jab at the perception that Spike was the bumbling and useless sidekick character, with a silly and entertaining villain to boot. Good pacing, completely ridiculous premise, but it worked out quite well in the end. Preliminary rating: 7.5/10.

Canterlot; your one stop shop for deadly merchandise and shady, grossly irresponsible merchants!

So Pinkie becomes the fastest pony and Dash doesn't bat an eye...

So Pinkie becomes the fastest pony and Dash doesn't bat an eye...

We've already established Pinkie is faster than Dash ages ago.

Remember in Party of One when dash tries running from her, and she effortlessly keeps up/gets to his destination ahead of time, even to the tops of mountains?

I don't think she even got any superpowers, she's just like that in the "real" world already. ;)

Considering that the demigoddess that runs the place keeps ancient incarnations of chaos imprisoned in statuary...

Let's not forget amulets of ultimate power sold in pawn shops.

So, if Rarity was Green Lantern, Pinkie was Flash Gordon, Fluttershy was the Hulk, Applejack was Wonder Woman, and Rainbow Dash was Storm(?), who was Twilight based on?

Pinkie was The Flash, not Flash Gordon; they're completely different characters. :p Twilight was loosely based on Cyclops, apparently.

Applejack as Wonder Woman is likely, however, the various incarnations of Ms. Marvel may have been an influence also.

Obviously, the villain's appearance and origin story are that of The Joker. So, I'm going to take a moment to plug Batman: Under the Red Hood, which is really good and available on Netflix.

The villian's design was a bit reminiscent of Doctor Octavius with the hair thing.

I forgot to mention that as well. Wonder if DC/Marvel lawyers are going to be pounding on Hasbro's door anytime soon.
