Looks like I need more patience when farming and I need to roam the beaches of Darkmoon Faire a bit more, saw a few crates and managed to get a bit of ore and some volatiles air and some herbs but decided I'd rather do a few more quests and push on the last strecth fo 85.

Helen

Well considering the prices of volatiles on my server and ore prices skyrocketing for some reason right after this patch farming those crates is around 2kg/hr.

Red gem prices have gone full retard.

I don't remember seeing this shit for 300g+ during other patches.

May not have to reinstall after all, can log into all of my other chars without probs it seems. Just this one char on Defias Brotherhood server has this problem :s As soon as the character loads in game i CTD with the divide by zero error. Have sent a ticket asking to be moved to a different zone to try to cure it. Seems someone at blizz have fucked up the coding for that area or something?

I seem to remember this happening to me once way back when. Sometimes a character just gets 'stuck' one way or another through some way or another. Fixed itself after me not playing the character for a couple of days I think.

I didn't go that far but I ended up looting about 20 or so of them. Didn't get as much embersilk as I'd like but still got plenty and lots of other nice loot too. Will be spending a good amount of time tonight doing more farming of them while queueing for dungeons.

Price of embersilk is dropping like a stone now on my server... It's just too good a source of embersilk with sometimes one crate giving me 12 cloth pieces nothing else has a higher drop rate for embersilk atm.

On a slightly different note my Paladin is now nearly maxed on all profs just got to finish off BS to 525 which shouldn't take long as I got fuck loads of ore, only issue is volatile water peaking rising to 150g per 10!
Going to run EOTS this weekend as its CTA and try and get some better pvp gear.

295g. That reminds me about another gripe i had with WoW. I shared a bank with a good friend and I had to make an alt and a new guild to share stuff/money with him. You should be able to create as many "bank accounts" as you want and decide who has access without needed to create lots of new guilds.

That's just my tailor mage alt toon, got two guilds on various toons at the moment and 6 toons are in level 25 guilds for the perks.
Currently own the old SHC guild on Al'Akir called "In Rust, We Trust" but its only level 1, my other guild should hit level 2 by Sunday as I'm transferring over max level toons to it and recruiting more peeps.

Probably more impressive is the fucking retard amounts of pots/herbs I got filling up 4 guild bank tabs. I'm actually a bit low on gold again after levelling up LW on my Shammy alt but need to get selling stuff when Auctioneer is back up and running.

lol @ people who have to pick a gold making profession. If you get into a good guild you can make 5-20k a week just from doing what you would do normally just twice as fast as noobs with 1/2 of the hassle. You should go for some sick rating on your main and then you should be able to sell your 1337 skills to some scrubs to boost them up on some alt/main. Only takes 10-20 games a week and ppl will pay serious gold if you can carry them up to a decent rating. I think that is what my arena friends did didn't take them too long. Should pay better than inscription as well as every one and their mother is prob using inscription to make gold now which will push profit down.

Enjoy your shitty 5k/week while playing 24/7.

I think the only week i only managed to make as little as 5k was when i skipped all the raids 1 week and just sat on avail so i could read the last book in the Sage of the Seven Suns (last few books are like 700 pages of A4 damn he waffled) so only got random epic drop profits :| . Towards the end before i quit just before fire lands i think i was only playing 5-6 hours a week as i only turned up for raids, so wasn't quite 24/7 at that point ;)

Fingers crossed WoW gets a nice buff to fun level in order to compete with Star Wars MMO once it is out as i dont think that will last as their expansions are either going to be even shorter than WoW's or take an age of man to do.

There's a shitton of options for specific phones with proprietary operating systems, and apps for smartphones. The Android app was free when I got it, doubt that changed, no idea about iOS. You can't directly swap them but you can remove the keychain authenticator and just add a mobile one.

I farmed them for a while but only got about 10 stacks and got loads of other ores and herbs which I'm going to sell in a few days. I'm at ~490 so still need quite a bit as I want to get myself a set of the 377 gear as well as it's a nice upgrade from what I'm using (mostly quest stuff with odd bits I've picked up in dungeons).

What do you guys actually do with your gold piles?

Since the initial cataclysm content burst died down I've mostly just been turning up to raids and doing the odd 5man achievement run when new ones come out, so I've definitely not been raking in the cash. I have managed to make more than I spend though, from hitting 85 I've gone from abou 40k to 75k, which is nice given I put zero effort into making gold - it's all from vendor drops and boss gold loot loot etc. (Raid pays for repairs, food, flasks etc.) I've not found any big ticket items that really seem worthwhile though, even the crafting is a bit meh as it needs raiding to get (for mats) so by the time I've got the mats or made the gold back after from splurging on the market I would have almost always got the raid drop equivalent for free anyway.

I'm not complaining, I like a game letting me just do what I like instead of having to grind gold/whatever first, am just wondering what you spend it all on. :)

Helen
December 11 2011, 01:59:50 PM
Well I'm spending gold on getting all 10 toons on my realm to 85 with all profs, and buying more tabs and crap for my two guild banks.
Once you start spending 20-35k per toon to level up/max profs it adds up fast.

probably safest is mid end mats.
stuff that takes you from 150 - 300 profession wise.

Abandoned the quest to try and rep as my gear is now all red and the quest seems to continue :s and i still get killed even when hiding inside the boat..

Nah that's pretty good advice of course no one knows when Blizz might change prof leveling so it I wouldn't sink too much into it all.

Think its one of those bugged quest like the one in Uldum with the invisible fingers of death when you try to rescue the prince it kills off level 85's fast as you like let alone anything under 85.
Personally I did all of about 40 quests in Vash and haven't returned since. Crappy zone.

Elementium ore, Obsidium ore etc which is current and farmed lot so cheap to buy big amounts. Reason being those materials are needed to level multiple professions so peoples will need those even after new content comes. Of course its possible there is drastic changes to profession leveling, and then whole scheme does not work... but its gambling anyway. Not gems though, old gems have mostly not that good value. Herbs could work too but prolly not, less demand for them as inscription leveling is so easy.

If you really feel lucky, you could risk buying all reasonble priced leatherworking mats. As panda's are afaik leather users, there is possibility that lot of peoples will training LW for that with MoP expansion.

Yeah had something like 50 stacks + of Heavy Savage Leather which was nice when each unit of Heavy Savage goes for 30g+ on my realm.
Had to farm up some Savage Leather though as the AH was barren of good deals, as for Cobalt I just sold my last stocks for 45g per stack as I'm nearly done levelling up JC on my DK now.

LW is the one traditional skill I never got to any cap. Closest I got was to almost 350 during WotLK. I'd like to just fuck around with my not-yet-85 alts (had only three left when I quit, a warrior, a rogue and a druid), but CBA now because a) time (om nom Skyrim) and b) 2x15 monies/month, frankly when I just played some shitty geared alts to 85 during the spring/summer that was way more fun than anything else I did in Cataclysm. It could even be somewhat tolerable with the reduced XP requirements in Northrend. Two are still stuck in Outland though.

Blizzard just hotfixed a cheeky little exploit but have no way of working out who abused it.

Hey there guys, me and my good friends have found an exploit which gives you 100k EXP from the end-bonus of a dungeon.

Here is how you do it:

1. Get a few 85's together that will be able to complete a level 85 cataclysm dungeon with 1 less member

2. Let the 85's queue up to a random normal cataclysm dungeon

3. Invite the low-level to the dungeon while queued.

4. Wait for the queue to pop.

5. Enter the dungeon as normal

6. Complete the dungeon and BOOM, 100k exp.

7. ???

8. Profit.

This took a character from level 1 to 18 in 10 minutes. Enjoy!

Taken from another website.

Just heard it got hotfixed on the US realms but not RU, no word yet on the EU. I've personally not tested this as first its an arseache to setup and secondly I've got no low level characters that would benefit from the 100k xp as much as just me playing them normally.

Not talking about achievements... go in armory, then achievements page, then Statistics-tab... shows number of boss kills per boss:

Ascendant Lord Obsidius kills (Blackrock Caverns) --
Ascendant Lord Obsidius kills (Heroic Blackrock Caverns) 6
Ozumat kills (Throne of the Tides) --
Ozumat kills (Heroic Throne of the Tides) 1
High Priestess Azil kills (Stonecore) --
High Priestess Azil kills (Heroic Stonecore) 5
Asaad kills (Vortex Pinnacle) --

etc

Or is it not tracking at all peoples under 85

So I started dicking around in wow again, after playing maybe 2 months a bout 2 years ago.

Is it just me or has the game gotten insanly easy? I mean, I pretty much just heal pugs to level. I havent wiped once yet, and Im about 40ish now. And im a pretty average healer - at best. Plus i play one handed most of the time.

I mean tanks will pull bosses while having gathering mobs for aoe, and just no problem at all. For most bosses (prob all if I cared to try) i just put up lightwell and start dps'ing. I will throw a shield at the tank if he is getting low, but otherwise i just dps.

I still enjoy myself. I just think I would enjoy myself more, if it was a little harder.

Low level content is no benchmark, like, at all. That has gotten easier as well over time, but it's no indication of how things are in general (ie. at 85) because now you're also dealing with revamped talent trees and gear that isn't loaded with spirit. Lowbie content isn't intended to challenge groups, those times are about 5 years in the past.

Finally levelled up LW on my Shammy it has to be one of the most time consuming and/or expensive profs to level at least on my server where a stack of Savage Leather is 120g+ and Heavy Savage is just silly.
Bonus is I can now get some nice gear for my Druid to pvp in without breaking balls.

Glad I did that when Stone bats in Deepholm still gave a leather each. Made it a fucking breeze.

Those are available from Justice Points now.

Making new event weapons and scaling up their item level to current pre-raid tiers is silly if they just keep doing them for one loot type (agility 1h weapons, this is the 4th event weapon of that type since brewfest).

Besides, WotLK shat out level 251/264 weapons (except for holy paladins, hurr) from the first three bosses in ICC (all easymode), a level 251 for everyone but warrior/paladin tanks was available for gold/luck as a quest reward, and heroics dropped level 232 stuff. For the effort required, that's decent enough. In TBC weapons first were easily available from PvP and when they added rating requirements we had weapons from badge vendors.

The only thing that was wrong with weapon availability in WotLK was how doing casual PvP realistically never had any weapon rewards because you had to get arena rating and -points to buy PvP weapons.

Yep has been raining goods for rogues lately. Direcrew event had already 2 rogue weapons, both good (non-boe was just excellent for sub rogues, way over its item level). And now this rogue dagger this is afaik only epic which can drop? Then there is also raid drops as usual, couple weapons from 5men hc's of course, and best of all, really easy to get legendary first stage, 397 weapon pair for measly 10k gold.

orcane
December 16 2011, 01:05:29 AM
Wait what, what do they go through in order to get their legendary's first stage?

I definitely played the wrong classes, never the ones who got relatively easy epic pre-legendaries or full legendaries from RNG without having to farm shit for several months or getting lucky about half a dozen times on the way there...

Idara
December 16 2011, 01:40:58 AM
They pickpocket the 4th boss, then kill some mob (I think they can solo it with some doing) and pay 10k gold for the first stage AFAIK.

Actually any weapon for 1h+shield tanks.

Frankly I don't get it. Rogues were seriously OP with warglaives and all they had to do was get lucky and earn the whole item at once, and could get another later. Then they got to roll on the legendary bow in the same expansion, for people in guilds doing that content that's orange shit in all weapon slots. Now they get the top tier legendary of this expansion, with an easymode epic in between.

After the caster legendary (the first after a Naxx-40 staff which pretty much nobody got...) degenerated into a grind of doing mostly nothing special but be there to farm hundreds of shitty shard-type items from the same handful of bosses for 3...6 months. What?

But apparently warriors and rogues are special. Not only do they need a legendary every one or two expansions, theirs were by far the easiest to get since TBC. No, not biased at all...

A bow isn't specific unless it's a hunter-only bow (that whole thing will change in Mists anyway, though), ie. the last time it was a bow even warriors (IIRC) and rogues could use, and especially the latter got them over hunters in a few cases. There has never been "parity" between specs and classes in terms of legendaries, and really how they handled these items has been a total mess from the start.

That doesn't mean we can't hope for improvements of course, and giving the class that already had several legendaries in the past another, class-specific one is totally retarded. Even more so if it was really done because rogues aren't popular enough (warlocks are about as unpopular as rogues so where is their class-specific legendary?) which they listed as a reason why it was rogues' turn yet again.

But really, they backed themselves up into a corner with the whole legendary concept. They make a lot of excuses why there can't be feral druid legendaries (you don't see the weapons and it's just one spec), enhance shaman legendaries (only one spec), 1h tank legendaries (too specific), hunter legendaries (too specific I guess, although I can't remember a direct quote), any other form of legendary but weapons (not iconic enough) but in the end it comes down to this - they lack the skill and imagination to make these concepts work, while throwing warriors and rogues yet another legendary is far easier. At the same time they can't even balance the power of legendaries and their acquisition methods within the same expansion so how do we expect them to get anything else done...

You're right so far that it really is a luxury problem, but personally I think even if the people with legendaries pale against the numbers of total players, they still have to properly design the orange pixels as well as balance them.

I'd say skilled guilds who work on the relevant content for its duration (roughly half a year, some more some less) usually end up with anything between 2 and 5 people with legendaries (my ICC-25H guild had three in the end, started late and fucked around some weeks without killing enough bosses for shards).

Eh it's not such a stupid question actually. Historically there have been more lore-based restrictions on classes, and gnomes were designed as a race that doesn't follow the "light" (no paladins, priests) and has no connection to nature or the wilds (no hunters, shamans and druids). With Cataclysm they got "medics" (priests) but before that they didn't even have a healing class. Until Cataclysm taurens had the same numbers of classes available to them, but then got both priests and paladins so now they're one ahead.

The problem is that bringing gnomes up to the usual 7-8 classes needs to touch some very iconic ones like paladins, shamans and druids, or hunters with pets twice as big as every gnome (although that doesn't stop warlocks). Rationally I don't see a problem with either, already dwarves (which have the most classes available to them now, IIRC) get all but druids and are the closest relatives to gnomes. Goblins who share the size and their technical ingenuity get all but paladins and druids.

Unfortunately there are a few people who are still very serious about lore (and sometimes even more serious about hating gnomes) and would probably commit suicide if gnomes ever got paladins. Personally I long ago changed my mind and would just prefer a system like EQ2's "every class for every race" because most restrictions are kind of arbitrary now.

My "whatever gnomes can't be" alts are all dwarves, so vOv

Throw rejuv and later lifebloom on everyone, use wild growth once in a blue moon, and other than tanks pulling full rooms I can semi-afk along with his health jumping between 80 and 100% :o

Has druid healing always been this easy in lowbie content? IIRC my priest had a much harder time through Outland instances, or at least I actually had to do much more.

pretty much all the old dungeons have been nerfed into the ground also heirloom gear tends to be much better than level equivalent greens so in a way you tend to overgear dungeons that have also been made easier.

Maybe I haven't made that clear enough, I'm not new to the whole lowbie dungeons in Cataclysm/with BoA gear thing, I know they're not actually hard (they haven't been hard since the end of TBC).

I'm just comparing it to my previous alt experience in Cataclysm, my priest had the same BoA gear and was actually better off with the 5% INT bonus and from actually questing through HFP and getting most of the caster stuff from the first dungeons, but I actually had to heal people and actually ran out of mana regularly. On the druid I throw a HoT on the tank and every tick of that is strong enough that his health bar goes to full every 1-2 HoT tick unless they pull an abnormal amount of mobs. The only thing that makes me go OOM is MT's mana leech thingies, those are not fun at all

I haven't even set up her bars right, they just contain some random stuff from her feral days and I bound four heals (rejuv, the cheap slow one, the fast expensive one, and now lifebloom) to my mouse and that's it. Well I'm not complaining, I've had enough of questing in Outland after about 20 alts, running dungeons without having to do much is a nice change until I reach 80 and go on the same linear quest path for the 10th time \o/

In other news I love people with equipped item level 314 (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/arathor/P%C3%A4lapower/advanced) in Well of Eternity...

Interesting thread here regarding dying realms - http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2986509135

The realm I have most of my characters on has always been backwater territiory but for the past couple of months it seems to have been hemorrhaging badly. Currently you cant really buy any mats on the AH, no one farms, there dont even seem to be bots, no pugs, recruitment is a non-event and this thread seems to present it as a problem all over. Will be interesting how they manage this as the population inevitably declines across the board, how can they continue to advocate paid character tranfers when eventually they will have to merge realms, its inevitable. Pert of the problem is they only present free character migration from high to low populations and traditionally people took this option because prime time raiding could get quite laggy, this has not been an issue since for a long time. If they opened free transfers off Dragonblight to a larger population I know for a fact most people I know would jump at the chance but how would they ever then remove dead realms without deleting people's virtual assets? will be interesting to see how they do it. Can see them sitting pretty and milking the cash cow until the next expansion but the amount of people saying they are not interested has to have them taking notice.

orcane
December 31 2011, 12:35:33 PM
I think it wouldn't be such an issue if they had more reasonable prices for paid transfers, but 25 bucks/character is idiotic if we assume by now most people have 5-10 alts with gear, vanity items, professions and achievements they don't want to lose, 250.- to move it all is just retarded.

But there are enough sufficiently balanced/populated realms with people who don't know, don't care, keep paying, so they probably don't have any incentive to change.

I cancelled my sub because I'm not paying for three MMOs a month. In the "y u leeve us?" field you can pick the game that you're leaving WoW for. SWTOR wasn't an option yet, so I picked EVE
:monocledowns:

Servers depopulating is NBS. Cataclysm was underwhelming, more and more games are becoming competitive in the MMO space including the korean/facebook F2P things. The WoW community will likely stabilize around a smaller number of hardcore folk, they'll get their Pandas, and Blizz will pull the plug on future development and put all those resources into Titan or whatever their next big thing is.

For me the air went out of the balloon when I killed Deathwing in the second week of Dragon Soul. One week to casually regear my mage through the new 5 mans, and a couple days before my DK roommate roped me into a pug. I was just like "wow, okay, that was the boss of the whole expansion? Really?" I think they made raid content so accessible that it's not special anymore. They're just another dungeon, scaled up. About the only thing I'll miss from WoW, besides the feeling of exploring everything for the first time and being totally on my own in a new and fascinating world, is the UI modding. Goddamn I miss Grid + Clique.

Deathwing is a piece of shit fight because you don't actually fight the god damn boss of the expansion.

You kill some add, then another few adds, then you hit a thing in front of you, then you move and do the same thing again. Then you hit his face and kill some adds.

Compared to LK where you're actually fighting the fucking boss.

That and all the bosses in 4.3 are completely forgettable, whereas I can remember quotes etc from the LK/Uld bosses.

yeah I didn't like the Deathwing fight either i'd really have liked to have fought him in his human or dragon form (or both) but the whole of cataclysm has been a bit of a fail expansion in my opinion. The whole story seems pretty fragmented, it doesn't build deathwing up to be powerful or scary he just comes across as a griefing jerk who likes arson, and none of the other bosses are very memorable. plus the difficulty level for dungeons and raids has been swinging back and forth wildly with each new patch.

I cancelled my sub a little over a week ago and stuck SWTOR in the other option to show where i'm going. A few of my guild mates have left for SWTOR as well and my sub doesn't run out until 21st January so i'll see if I can convince any more to tag along.

I can't see myself resubbing for Mists of Pandaria as it looks like a pretty shit expansion. They could have had the emerald dream, or the return of the titans, or a second fragment of draenor and another round with the burning legion (both sargeras's leuitenants are dead but we haven't faced the master of the burning legion yet). But instead Pandas.

WoW peaked with WotLK as far as i'm concerned. That was an outstanding expansion and you could really feel the build up all the way to the final showdown with Arthas at the pinnacle of icecrown where it turned out his dark plans had all fallen into place at the very last moment before the light intervenes. Very fun fight. It's not going to match that again.

I'm officially levelling up from Eve bittervet to WoW bittervet.

Love all this talk about how Panda's are "breaking the wow universe" yeah because having talking cow's and elf people isn't fantasy at all.
Trolling the shit out of sperg lords on wow forums is funny as hell although probably not as funny as people threatening to quit due to the rebalancing of Blood DK's in pvp, (vengeance no longer stacks from player hits).

Then again wow forums are pretty fucking lulz and its almost as bad as reading CAOD back in the days when I still played EvE.

These days I was playing TOR and I was thinking ... god, why pandas? Yea Helen, I know - talking cows. But pandas? IIRC most of the panda stuff in the WOW universe was for 1st April jokes and from The Frozen Throne.

And where the hell is our Emerald Dream expansion? This is the thing im waiting for since 1.4.0 (my first contact with wow). It only makes me sad how they ruined an awesome game. This summer I was playing on a classic (private ofc) server and it felt awesome. The only downside was, that the guilds there were pretty hardcore and 90% + of the players were ex-retail people. It felt awesome but it was really hard to stay competetive and keep your place in the guild (and that was only one of the many raiding guilds on the server).
Im tempted to check my lvl 60 resto shammy again but im paying Bioware for a game that isnt completed yet. And im tanking (god I love tanking).

First, Emerald Dream would have been a nice idea but it will never be. It was in a pretty advanced state some time during vanilla but since then the relevant lore has progressed and changed (mostly in the shitty Mary Sue books of Richard A. Hack, but whatever). It's cleared now, Malfurion beat the corruption and the nightmare was lifted, and Ysera and her dragonflight pals are in "our" world now. There's no way at all to have an Emerald Dream expansion that wouldn't feel incredibly forced (and we already have enough "dragons do dragon things" in this game for my taste).

About the rest, sorry but I'm gonna be frank, this stance is ridiculously dumb. They may have been an April 1st joke once but that was about eleventy gazillion years ago and people who get butthurt about "childish" pandas in 2011/2012 are complete morons. The Warcraft series has never been (okay, maybe in the very first RTS game) as serious as some of the "hurr durr vanilla was so much better, pandas suck" crowd imply nor was it the standard of high-end storytelling they could ruin with pandas et al. We've always had goblins and their explosives, gnomes and their machines, dwarves and their stout, dumb-ass ogres, voodoo trolls, the story is very basic black vs. white with very few nuances and even fewer interesting characters. For Warcraft 3 they invented the undead scourge, different elves than those we had as mages/priests before, cow people and, yes, pandas as an April Fools joke.

Pandas may be newer additions but why do some people insist that this is a bad thing? Do you want to play fucking orcs vs. humans for the next 100 years? Pandas and Asian-inspired environments can fit the Warcraft world like everything else they have in a game that never had this mythical cohesion. And there's absolutely no reason to get butthurt about lore in a game series that has ALWAYS adjusted lore on the fly if required to fit gameplay elements. The story wasn't set in stone in Warcraft 1, it changed for Warcraft 2, it changed for Warcraft 3, it changed for and in WoW. Not everything was good but it's freaking silly how some people have this barrier in their head that says "immersion goes till here, and pandas are over there". Getting away from stupid dragons and the same old "good guys vs. ancient evil that's obvious from day one, go" thing is GOOD.

And one more thing, everyone who goes on about how WoW was ruined lately needs to take off their rose-tinted glasses right about fucking now. The game was more awesome because the games before (Everquest, mainly) were A LOT SHITTIER. Forced grouping, camping spawns, zerging bosses with a bajillion people, terrible class design (yay buffbot shit). That was horrible but just because vanilla WoW was better doesn't make it perfect. The quests were more boring/grindier, the first raids incredibly lame (hurr let's make five million kilometers of cave with a few lava lakes and fill it with about 3 different NPC models, give them different names and abilities/HP and call it Molten Core), non-raid endgame content wasn't even lacking it downright didn't exist, the PvP ladder was horrible. It was awesome because it was fresh and better than previous games. They changed it, now it sucks (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheyChangedItNowItSucks), but not really because in reality the game was improved in so many areas (not all, mind you, but this is a topic on its own...) it's not even funny. That elitist retards lost most of their special snowflake status is just the icing on the cake.

If anything wrecked the game lately it was this misguided "make shit harder!" idea that guided the development of Cataclysm early on, and that was right out of the playbook of the "better", older WoW. It ended with two tiers of raids nobody completed that had to be nerfed with a hammer they haven't swung since the global raid nerfs in 3.0, with heroics that took ages to complete where you could wipe because one moron out of five didn't know what to do, leading to nobody tanking these heroics, and nobody healing them either, and one hour+ queues for DPS. On top they designed a healing system that was actually more punishing for new 85s and in mere dungeons than it was for raiders, in raids. They returned to this awesome idea of casual content = grinding shit (molten fail dailies, dung barad dailies) I've seen before when they poured all dev resources into making a raid instance (Naxxramas) for the handful of people who got through AQ40, while "normal" players got to grind shit for the AQ opening event and then they got to grind more shit in Silithus for recolored dungeon gear. So essentially, I'll agree with you that release Cataclysm was shit. But development goes on current Cataclysm and MoP at least don't seem to be stuck in nostalgia like certain players are.

Cataclysm is shit because it started shit and now we have a shit end raid that isn't memorable at all.

The implementation is fucking great though, LFR is a tool that they should've had a while ago because it makes everyone's cases of alt-itis act up and waste more time playing the game. If only they had put some effort into the actual raid itself rather than 'fight this guy from Stonecore, fight Vezax and some other ooga-booga, fight Halion Mark 2, fight a tauren then do some shit to a thing that might be deathwing'

I thoroughly enjoy the pace and 'difficulty' of the 3 new heroics they brought out, it's what daily dungeons should (and I believe what Blizz said is that they will be) be in terms of time-sink.

I really only miss ICC because the bosses were at least memorable, maybe that was because it was a years worth of clearing the same assholes over and over, but I'd like to think it went beyond that. Dragon Soul just has nothing. Shit, they should've done the first 6 DS bosses as a 'raid', then have a truly epic deathwing series of fights or something rather than walk on his back for 6 minutes then hit his wingy-bits.

I think they really tried to deliver some epic scenery and fights and in a way they backed themselves into a corner because a huge badass like Deathwing just doesn't fit the normal model of fighting a boss of which you only see the feet in some oversized room. Things like blowing armor plates off a huge dragon mid-air, pretty sure that would work well in a TPS or FPS game. But in the whole top-down/focusing on stuff not to stand in/focusing on health bars environment of WoW it just doesn't work as intended, so the fights appear as lame add zergfests.

In a way the Dragon Soul raid also exemplifies what has been present in the story of WoW for a while: Players aren't worth shit in the narrative, every boss we killed later got retconned into "hero NPC did X". Dragon Soul (the whole Cataclysm story, really) for the first time makes that apparent by focusing so much on what NPCs do, even if players beat bosses. In the past we could easily identify with NPC heroes because they were closer to what we are and play - paladins, death knights and mages, in WotLK eg. This expansion has shamans and druids healing the sundered world, but the spotlight is on the dragon aspects we and Thrall work for. With the expansion about dragons doing their important things and dealing with the Big Bad, while players get the shit jobs dragons are too good for, we now have a raid where dragon aspects and Thrall do the real work, while players act as a distraction, killing a few lieutenants and fighting a fuckton of adds.

While I acknowledge the spine and madness encounters are somewhat unique, stuff like Ozruk II, fighting blobs, tentacles and "old" faceless models (how many times can they reuse Vezax?) in boring caves and another "gunship" fight are not. A lot of work seems to have gone into the video sequences and the spine/madness design even if those don't work for different reasons, but there's really no excuse for the rest of the raid.

Now I kind of want a gnome/goblin druid in bear form, just to see if it would be normal bear size or a small bear.

I figured it might have some lore related answer, being more science/technology than religion so don't get Paladins.
Fun facts, gnomes seem to compensate for their own size by having full-scale shoulders (unlike goblins eg.), regular size weapons, and their mounts are actually bigger than most or all other races'.

Back in Vanilla, we always had our 2nd MT (female gnome warrior) tank Golemagg.
Was quite hilarious...

Especially being the final boss of the expansion.Actually this is why I like the Deathwing fights, they're different and it's nice to fight a boss who isn't human(orc/elf/etc) handleable.
Even though I am a tank, it's always sat a bit wrong with me that everything boils down to GIANT MONSTER smacking a little tank and having no where near the expected effect.

I'm with you on the rest of the raid though, most of the rest of the bosses just feel rushed and the whole thing is disjointed. Suddenly there is an angry tauren from out of nowhere (presumably a grimtotem but fuck only knows), more minions of N'Zoth except we never got his patch, and a random giant. At least Ultraxion has some sort of backstory in the twilight dragons.

I'll accept that actually tanking Ragnaros or the LK is a bit much as a player character to do, even if it is pretty awesome.

Maybe the problem with Deathwing was that it was just so static. Madness is just 4 lazy fucking dragons floating in air and yelling at you to hurry when he casts something. Perhaps if they had more time or something they could've made a fight like what heroic Ragnaros is (I've never done heroic Rag mind) where there are multiple NPC characters helping the players out in defeating the boss.

The whole raid starts off pathetically when you have all those Wyrmrest soldiers just standing the fuck around while a giant punches their temple. Even the gunship you have no real interaction with the crew of the ship beyond them doing things like harpooning the little drakes and yelling at you to stand in purple spots.

I can't really summarize beyond saying the whole raid is just a big dose of MEH compared to the buildup of ICC and what Ulduar was.

orcane
January 12 2012, 12:08:17 AM
To be fair the size of raid bosses is a gameplay element and doesn't necessarily reflect ingame reality. The Lich King is technically of human size, as are most or all of player races' heroes, they're just bigger in game to stand out or to be easier to target/see (bosses). Tanking him makes sense, his advantage is control over the undead and his magic powers not sheer size. This doesn't apply to elemental forces like Ragnaros obviously, and animal or "normal" dragon bosses also require some suspension of disbelief. I think making us deal with "little things" was the only valid path for an immense enemy like Deathwing though, it's just not portrayed very favourably.

The comment on how static the Deathwing encounters are is probably an important element - today was the first time I met a PUG that failed to "balance" Deathwing so he wiped us with his barrel roll. Except, the whole thing was pretty lame. He actually does a barrel roll but our frame of reference is the "terrain" ie. is his body covering about 80% of the screen, which is completely static and only the skybox moves to indicate his rotation. I really think his size is what ultimately ruined their chance to make a memorable fight, WoW's combat and perspective just doesn't lend itself to this kind of encounter. It's the same reason why half a raid's design is often wasted (how often do you look at the ceilings of dungeon/raid interiors in WoW?).

Also Ulduar was a hard thing to beat, not even ICC achieved that (at least not for me, I didn't particularly care for Arthas as a character/boss so his whole raid didn't impress me).

I don't give a fuck in the way that this content is fucking shit anyways so making it faster to get through is fine with me.

But having LFR(easy)/normal/heroic difficulties and then nerfing normal/heroics just seems unnecessary but hey, I guess "casuals" need to experience normal modes too for some reason.

orcane

As I see it, LFR and normal are two different things for many reasons, so I don't see why normal/heroic should be immune to difficulty tweaks just because there's a faceroll mode for cross-server PUGs where you can carry like 1/3 of the raid.

orcane
January 21 2012, 08:00:05 AM
They've also been talking about faster release cycles even back in (late) TBC IIRC, but at least earlier than after the ICC thing (BT to SWP took like 10 months in TBC, with only ZA released in between). I knew a lot of people who thought after the Cataclysm Blizzcon of 2009 that the expansion was coming out in about half a year, and started to take breaks for Cataclysm in early 2010 after 2-3 months of ICC because they assumed they would return for the new expansion during spring/summer.

What's also interesting is that they were talking about how they wanted to break up raiding into these several-smaller-raids-per-tier experiences instead of sprawling single raids like Ulduar or ICC, but beyond tier 11 they ended up with the same one-instance-per-tier thing except with less bosses than in the past.

In the end I can't follow Blizzard when they talk about their faster content releases during Cataclysm. We may have gotten more content patches (release + 3 patches in about a year), but objectively that amounted to less content, especially: less interesting/memorable content.

Within one year after release, WotLK had gotten everything except for the ICC and RS patches (ICC took about one month more after release than DS did in Cata). That's only release+2, but Ulduar alone has about as much content as the firelands and DS raids together... Cataclysm looks like it will end with fewer dungeons/heroics and fewer raids and raid bosses (and arguably less "casual replayability" at the level cap) than any expansion before it.

With regards to the DS nerf aura that doesn't matter though, expected lifetime of the content shouldn't delay balance changes. Considering Blizzard's statement that they see (too) many guilds stuck on certain bosses, giving them a few weeks/months more to bash their head against a wall to frustrate them more and drive them out of the game even faster can't possibly be preferable to helping them move on.

These players may burn out a few months later in case they run out of content and MoP isn't released or around the corner yet. But that is a remote possibility, whereas stopping to raid (and soon probably quitting the game) due to lack of progress is apparently frequent enough to take action now, ie. almost certainty.

Am I the only one who thinks ICC/Northrend were really well done as far as gameplay/quests/rais went? I really enjoyed the whole area, lore, etc even with the stupid daily quests :)

Isn't it just another case of "everything's so shit now, it was way more awesome back then" syndrome? I mean, people bitched and moaned about wrath for a long time. How it was shit compared to TBC and all that, now people are wearing rose-tinted glasses like crazy again.

Pretty much, far too much "back in the day everything was great" talk going on.
If I could really be bothered I'd dig through the old SHC archive and find the monster long WoW thread and find some nice quotes.

Definitely kept me interested a lot longer than anything in cataclysm did, it took only long enough to get my dragonmaw rep maxed before I completely lost interest in the non-raid content whilst Wrath still had me doing icecrown bombing runs etc weeks before the expansion ended because they were fun.

I enjoyed the story of Northrend while I was going through it, definitely more than I liked Outland or most of the Cata areas. But I started in Cata so I only have to put up with Northrend long enough to hit 80.

How many people here actually critizise Northrend and ICC as a whole though? ICC as a raid especially was pretty well received across the board, the major problem being that it was the only available full raid for a year. And what's with the attempts to globally dismiss criticism of other parts of that expansion, or any expansion? Views on the game are never going to be static because the game changes, people change and gaming as a whole moves on. It's perfectly valid to view things differently than at the time, without it being "rose-tinted glasses syndrome" immediately.

Some of the talk is just different design philosophies at work and personal preferences, ie. if you're in a guild with good players at the forefront of raid progression it's easy to get the idea that the game's difficulty is not an issue, ever, at all. Or someone with special snowflake syndrome is naturally going to like TBC and early Cataclysm a lot more for the simple fact that the game was almost entirely designed for those people in the past, so their club of purple-wearing raiders was more exclusive. To a certain extent that's an acceptable stance until people start to assume that their situation is the only one that exists/matters.

In WotLK there were several guys in my guild who insisted TBC was far superior for the single fact that there was no alternate gearing path to "good gear" (generally means ~latest raid epics) other than going through all the old raids and attunements to "work" your way up (nevermind that this wasn't strictly true). Another view of the same people was that badge loot and its increased supply in WotLK was the single worst thing that happened to the game. You probably won't see a lot of criticism from these guys about the mess that was tier 11 and the release state of Cataclysm heroics for average players, because in their mind that's exactly what average players "deserved".

You'd actually have to evaluate what was better in the past and why, and I think there have been useful statements about why some people preferred the previous expansions' questing (WotLK questing and TBC questing wasn't that different except for a handful of zones/hubs and bear-ass quests being more annoying in TBC for lack of certain features), or why Dragon Soul or most of Cataclysm's raiding was disappointing. On the other hand the panda hate seems entirely unfounded because other than "pandas", "asian-themed visuals" and a few features that may as well change completely till release we have no basis for discussion in the first place.

Nope, I enjoyed it a lot - the only place that fell flat for me was Sholozar, and I suppose that place Dalaran was in that had nothing to do because it was were Dalaran was.
Crystalsong forest was supposed to have ToC and the Argent Tournament, and then the Dalaran lag was too much of an issue and they had to move it and abandon previous plans for the zone. I was also looking forward to Azjol-Nerub before it was scrapped as an underground zone and turned into two pretty weak dungeons. :(

Dumbing down, copying SWTOR, etc.

Our recent talent calculator changes led to some players asking questions about how character and item stats were changing, because some spell and talent tooltips suggest that changes are coming. We compiled this list to attempt to explain more of what’s coming in Mists of Pandaria. First of all, please note that we actually aren’t making many stat changes compared to the ones we made in Cataclysm (“armor penetration -- gone!”). Second, the stuff below can get a little technical. If you’re not into the subtle nuance of gear itemization, then don’t worry about it -- you don’t need to be to enjoy the expansion -- but we know there are plenty of you who enjoy some nuts and bolts talk, so here we go.

Spell Resistance

Spell resistance is gone. There are no buffs that improve it and there shouldn’t be much, if any, spell resist gear left. We always thought the system was hard to understand and we weren’t getting much gameplay out of it. Now taking a step back, we can imagine how to develop a game where you’d want various forms of resist gear for certain situations and opponents. Resist gear could potentially be interesting, but it isn’t currently in World of Warcraft -- the game has just been moving away from that sort of thing for years.
In the absence of spell resistance, there is no need for spell penetration on gear, so we’ll remove it as well.

Hit and Expertise

We still think having stats that can be capped is a good game design. Rather than focusing solely on stacking your best stat, you have to decide how valuable it is to hit your target before you go back to stacking your best stat. However, we are making some changes.
Hit and spell hit will no longer be separate stats. The hit stat negates melee miss and spell miss.
Expertise will negate dodge and spell miss, then parry.
Expertise will be listed as a percentage, just like hit, instead of having an intermediary stat.
We are normalizing hit with expertise, so that 1% of each stat will require the same amount of rating.
We are normalizing melee and spell hit, so that spell hit is equal to miss plus dodge.
Against an equal level creature: 6% spell miss, 3% melee miss, 3% dodge, 3% parry (from the front only), 3% block (from the front only).
Against a +1 level creature: 9% spell miss, 4.5% melee miss, 4.5% dodge, 4.5% parry (from the front only), 4.5% Block (from the front only).
Against a +2 level creature: 12% spell miss, 6% melee miss, 6% dodge, 6% parry (from the front only), 6% Block (from the front only).
Against a +3/boss level creature: 15% spell miss, 7.5% melee miss, 7.5% dodge, 7.5% parry (from the front only), 7.5% block (from the front only).
Ranged attacks will be able to be dodged. Hunters will benefit from expertise and will have it on their gear, which will also allow hunters and Enhancement shaman to share gear more easily.

Block

The chance to block will be handled by a separate combat roll for each attack that is not avoided. In other words, we first determine if an attack misses, or is dodged or parried. If it is not, then the attack has a chance to be blocked.
This gives block a consistent value, regardless of avoidance. Currently block becomes more valuable the more you have.
Block will also have diminishing returns, much like dodge and parry. This doesn’t mean that the value of block will go down as you get more block. It means that it won’t go up by as much when you get more block.
We don’t expect Protection warriors or paladins to get “block capped” other than during temporary effects, such as mastery procs on trinkets. Block tanks will be balanced around this change. Our intent is to make playing block tanks more fun, not to nerf them.
Also notice how Shield Block and Shield of the Righteous have changed in Mists.

Criticals

All spells and abilities will crit for double damage, baseline. There are a few exceptions where crits can get larger, but the default is x 2.0 for everyone.
This means that Enhancement shaman spells and rogue poisons will crit for double damage. Rogue poisons will also use the melee hit chance.

Resilience

We are renaming this stat to “Defense (PvP)” or possibly “PvP Defense.” All players will have 30% base Defense, the same way all characters have some base Stamina.
PvP gear will have Defense on it, as well as a new stat, “Power (PvP).” Power increases the damage you do to other players as well as the healing you do to other players in PvP situations.
If you have a lot of Power, you’ll do more damage to other players, but they likely have Defense as well. If you fight players in lots of PvE gear, they’ll take more damage. Likewise, a player in PvE gear won’t have enough Power to effectively penetrate your Defense.
The names PvP Power and PvP Defense may not be final, but we’re leaning towards going with stat names that are obviously PvP-related, rather than “fluffier” names that might not be as easy to grasp. We want it to be clear to players that neither Power nor Defense have any relevance when fighting creatures, such as in dungeons or raids.
PvP gear will be lower in item level than PvE gear of an equivalent tier, however the Power and Defense stats will make sure that PvP gear is more powerful in PvP (both offensively and defensively) than PvE gear. In our budgeting system, the PvP stats will be free rather than causing other stats, such as Strength or haste, to be smaller as a result of including Power or Defense.
The goal of this change is to make it easier for a PvP player to participate in PvE, or for a PvE player to get started in PvP. Currently, we feel it is too large a barrier to go from one to the other, and the result has been that we see more and more players choosing to focus exclusively on only PvP or PvE. In earlier expansions, it was more feasible to use PvE gear in Arenas or Battlegrounds until you acquired the more useful PvP gear. The same was true of being able to use your PvP gear in a dungeon or raid until you acquired something better. In Cataclysm, stepping into PvP with no PvP gear would result in a player being so ineffective that it was difficult to even make progress towards acquiring PvP gear.
For the higher-end of PvP or PvE (say Gladiators or heroic raiders), we believe those players will still gravitate towards the dedicated PvP or PvE gear. It is the players who are working towards those two end games that will benefit more from some cross over.

That’s a lot of information, and it probably sounds more set-in-stone than it really is. We’ll continue to iterate as players poke holes in our ideas, tell us what is working out and what isn’t, and finally get to experience it first hand in beta.

I'm actually pretty tempted by that scroll of ressurection offer. I was debating whether or not to reactivate my account and take Helen up on joining the guild on Kazzak, but wasn't keen on levelling another 85. The new scroll would let me pull one of my existing 85 chars right onto kazzak horde side and would net a spectral mount for the fhc'er who sends me the scroll.

It may be Al'akir then i'm not sure it's been a few months since I last played and I was always on Aerie Peak myself. Is there an official FHC guild or is Helen the only one trying to herd us all into one place? I have to be honest getting a single guild of players together from FHC is the biggest selling point for coming back to WoW for me. Gameplay wise there isn't much I haven't done but my experience from MMO's is that the it's the guild/corp that really makes the game fun and i've had to settle for random guilds up until now. Seeing as only 1 of my real life mates plays WoW grouping up with FHC is probably the next best thing. If all else fails we can spend our time bittervetting about eve in guild chat whilst we grief the community at large in whatever small ways we can.

To be fairly honest, that much of an offer simply seems like a waste not to take up on, however much it reeks of desperation. What for, though? Will still be a while before the pandas are coming and I've already done the content.

Koll
March 8 2012, 03:55:45 PM
Any idea how far off MoP is roughly? The only things to do at the moment is the usual stuff that fills time between raids. farming achievements, doing PvP with guildies, going after legendaries both old and new. Or just spending the time rounding off an FHC raid team so that when the pandas do come out we'll be well placed to hit the raids straight off the bat in the race for server firsts.

MMO's really are the kind of game where you get out what you put in in terms of finding fun things to do. Some of my fondest memories of WoW are the rare occassions where I managed to talk a few guildies into doing something just for the hell of it like when I got a few guys together and we boarded the gunship in icecrown and started murdering all the NPC's and any enemy players who tried to stop us. No achievement for it just some good boarding action fun. I always thought a PvP battleground based on the ICC gunship battle would be particularly good fun.

How does it turn into an issue with Blizzard security though? IIRC hackers don't get login data from Blizzard servers and Blizzard provides authenticators which, while not entirely safe, prevent just about all the common ways to get hacked so the conclusion "worst security in gaming" is total hyperbole. It's not Blizzard security that's bad if people use their hotmail account and 1234 for WoW logins, get otherwise social-engineered, share their accounts with Facebook friends, type their info into phishing sites or download a trojan with the latest game torrent.

I'm not saying he did any of this but getting hacked for one of those (or related) reasons is totally a PEBKAC thing and magnitudes more likely than magically getting hacked out of nowhere and it being Blizzard's fault. Of course, if securing a WoW account is such a low priority and getting it restored such a hurdle, it sounds more like a case of "CBA, didn't want to play anyway" rather than "Blizzard security fails, I quit".

Wrong on both counts.
The authenticators make the account more secure but they still get hacked. Even Blizzard came out with a statement about it last year.

My girlfriends account got hacked and she works in IT security and is totally paranoid about these things, so no shared passwords, no simple passwords, no one knows her info but me, no clicking stupid links or answering obvious scams. Got hacked anyway.

The authenticators make the account more secure but they still get hacked. Even Blizzard came out with a statement about it last year.

Was that just the trojan on your PC crashing your game so they could get multiple codes or some thing else as that was the only one i've heard about involving authenticator hacked accounts and you cant blame that on blizzard.

orcane
March 9 2012, 12:20:26 AM
Authenticators aren't 100% safe but to be hacked you usually need a trojan or some MITM attack to intercept the authenticator code, so we're back to having malware on the computer which isn't ultimately Blizzard's fault beyond making an incredibly popular game which attracts gold buyers and with that gold sellers/hackers en masse. On top of that, authenticator hacking is a lot of effort compared to just collecting the info people who click on all links in e-mails entered on your phishing site et al.

Not saying that applies to your GF but most people who get hacked immediately go "wtfbbq I'm blameless/got hacked despite all reasonable caution, Blizzard sucks" although often they simply paid less attention to their computer's security than they thought (and all it takes is a single moment of inattentiveness, I fell for some phishing site when I was tired a few years ago, but managed to change info before anything happened).

Grarr Dexx

Mavolio
March 9 2012, 02:06:55 AM
Can you link to a post/article explaining how they were hacked please? The only way i know to get hacked with an authenticator is a trojan will make your game crash once you type in your UN, PW + auth code then use then some one else will quickly use the info before it expires to log in. Which you cant really blame on blizzard.

Have seven tabs full of mats/pots and all kinds of shit and plenty of gold because well I'm a mega jew and making gold is fucking simple.

I'm on Al'Akir Horde EU and if people want to join up I'll reiterate my offer:

Free iLvl 377 pvp crafted gear ( I got all proffs maxed)
Free bags (Embersilk bags for mains/Frostweave for any alts you have, plus big herb/mining bags too if thats your game)
I'll give 1k gold for any FHC guy for general use and there is a 100g guild repair to use daily.

If you plan on rerolling let me know as I can help boost you depending on time.

Any questions fire away, I hope that SoR brings a few guys from Failheap to one place as I figure most FHC WoW players can clear 99% of content easily as we got brains compared to the usual retards in this game.

Only reason I know it got hacked was checking the Battle Net site for Diablo III Beta invite.

And the reason I know it's them, and not me, is pretty obvious. Not a single other gaming account of mine in any MMO (and they're a few) got hacked. Just WoW.

And WoW is the only game for which I've recieved thousands of spammed hacker emails (all deleted). So bad is that problme, that I probably deleted legit Blizzard mails when the account got hacked to start with.

Fuck having to buy/aquire an authenticator to cover for Blizzards bad security.

But you're right too, game is total shit, and not interested in returning. Doesn't change the irritant of being hacked.

With that said, while very paranoid and security conscious, it's certainly possible one site or another I live at (Like FHC for instance) may have dropped me a trojan. I'd like to think the few sites I frequent wouldn't, but who knows.

But again, having to do more than regular scans and updated virus prot. and regular use of malwarebytes and/or Ad-Aware, etc, is still too much IMO. The whole spam mail thing isn't Blizzard but fansites sharing/selling/leaking their user data/e-mail addresses. Some time in WotLK (I think) a guy made a lot of new dummy addresses and signed up for different MMO fansites and checked which address got what spam. Some websites are just that careless or malicious.

My original battle.net e-mail address was also used to sign up for my US guild's Guildomatic website (the guy above found out the same thing about this guild hoster) and is to this day getting an enormous amount of MMO phishing mails, WoW, EVE, Aion (which I never played), everything. Same for another e-mail I use for pretty much every forum/gaming site (but never for my WoW accounts). My current battle.net e-mail is one of my personal ones I don't really give out (which is why I hate the way they implemented RealID so much) and doesn't get any WoW related e-mails which aren't from Blizzard.

I figure these days if you ever land on spammers' mailing lists from any gaming websites, they just deduce that a fair share of these people play WoW, and there's nothing Blizzard could possibly do to deal with that other than shutting down WoW. The smartphone authenticators are free and the dongle ones basically cost shipping and change, they already try to help.

I was pretty keen when I heard the new SoR offer, but that's wearing off now. There's no way in hell i'm paying £35 for a realm transfer and a facton transfer and balls to levelling another 85. So if I don't get a SoR to get one of my existing end game characters to the guild on Al Akir then fuck it cause that's the only reason I wanted to come back.

I actually got the email, but when I click the link it just says that I'm not eligible for the offer.

Main thing I want it for is a priest at 80 since I enjoy healing on my pally and shaman but levelling a healer just turns into a massive dungeon grindfest since you can't do dick alone.

Going to get my mate who sent the invite to put in a ticket and hopefully they will give me the 80 and transfer even if they don't give me the 7 days. Or can you put in tickets when not subbed?

I'll write a ticket to Blizzard asking why you haven't recieved one yet as I have used SoR to reactivate another account just yesterday so it should of been sent to you as well.
Have you checked under BNET account management and looked under the game and codes tab? The last account activated that way as the email from Blizzard got junked by spam filters...

I'd suggest putting the ticket in and ask for the SoR benefits as to be honest they really want the customers back and I can't see them saying no.

I have checked my bnet account and I can't see anything indicating that I have a SoR option pending anywhere. I've also checked my e-mail settings and blizzard isn't blocked and i've been checking both my inbox and my junk mail and nothing has come through regarding a SoR.

Going to try again using your char name and realm instead of your email address as this will still send you an email (well should do heh).
I'll post a ticket as well to make sure it goes through.

Sent myself one for the lulz when it was announced, took the e-mail two or three days to arrive.

Varies a bit also seems like they made me faction change on an alt account so changed from a Female Belf DK to a Worgen DK but couldn't change the name for some reason...
Actually quite happy to have a ready made lvl 80 DK on alliance side of my server as I can use him to kill annoying botters/people.

was actually thinking of resubbing and leveling a new toon up, mostly for pvp. swtor is godawfully boring after you've completed the class stories you want, and the new patch doesn't do much about the obviously lacking incentive to pvp.
anyone care throwing me a scroll?

Finally recieved my scroll of ressurection this morning 72 hours into the 24 hour estimated delivery time. Clicked it to reactivate my account and... Battle.net and all associated sites are down with no estimated time to go back up. Well played Blizzard. Well played. Anyway finally got it sorted now and have used the realm/faction transfer on my character of choice. Estimated time for completion is 1 hour so I guess that means i'll see you in a week :P

BTW I can confirm that the SoR faction change/realm transfer will only allow you to change to the faction and realm of a character of whoever sent you the scroll so for inactivtes looking to join the Al Akir guild you will need to get a scroll from someone who is on Al Akir. At the moment that is Helen and, shortly, myself.

Derpy this affects you if you're wanting to come to Al'akir and join the guild.

Actually oddly Koll SoR allowed me to reactivate an old account and faction change an existing Horde char on Al'Akir to Alliance side.
Probably wouldn't work if it wasn't already Horde on Al'Akir though.

Economy on Al'Akir is pretty healthy as its mostly full of Horde anyway and its a med pop server so doesn't get insane queue times.

Assuming Helen did send me one, mine is also taking more than the estimated delivery time.
Is this feature really that popular and servers overcrowded with returning bittervets, or is this just another case of :blizzard: ?

Probably both I'll try and send another one to you now Derpy or Koll can try as well, oh yeah pm me your first name as that has to be filled in on the form to send a SoR.

In other news quit my heavy two hour a week raiding schedule today, actually feels pretty nice to have wednesday nights free again. Good riddance to the worst tier in the history of the game though, seriously speaking ToTC was more enjoyable than this 7 stage turd.

damn glad I stopped playing this when I did, or I'd be bouncing off walls atm, however as it is, I can honestly and emphatically give a half-hearted 'meh'.

Blizzard really can't do female faces can they.

I really like the Drenai females, but otherwise..yes.

Subjective issue is subjective I guess, I actually like the pandaren face, every race has a few that are okay (except female orcs and trolls, who have like one nice face each...).

News is both interesting and disappointing - the latter because there are certain things I don't care about or see as something that will likely make me stop playing at some point (the focus on farming dailies for tokens for bonus loot/tradskill shit, the horde vs. alliance hurf blurf story for the 10th time). And I was hoping they'd get new models for old races ready for launch instead of "some point in the future", original 8 races already paled in comparison to TBC races, even more so to Cataclysm races, and the comparison to pandaren and the new NPC races in MoP is disastrous.

Last disappointment is that there's no estimate on a release date or how far along the expansion is. Another "one year of the last raid" (except this time the raid is half as big and there's no gap-filling one-boss raid for shits and giggles either) would be seriously bad, albeit not surprising.

Glyph of Righteous Retreat (NYI) - During Divine Shield, you can invoke your Hearthstone 50% faster.

Okay, Blizz has redeemed itself a small bit in my eyes. :D

Do we not get beta invites if we took out an annual pass?

Idara
March 22 2012, 07:31:21 PM
They're sending them out in waves apparently.

Even when I get the invite, I'm not going to play much since we're just gonna have to play it live for a year anyways.

Its still friends and family + press etc. I heard its going to be May before the annual pass invites go out.

Several people on maintankadin with annual passes got beta access, this is definitely not a press/F&F beta. Also some people with just regular beta opt-in (although I figure with the million or w/e annual passes they sold, there won't be a lot of room for "normal" invites for quite a while) got in too.
