Hey guys,

Not sure where to post this. My apologies if this is the wrong place. I recently moved into a C1. I setup a small pos with a CHA, an SMA, ECM modules, 3 Turrets, and a warp scram battery. There is always a static to Hi-sec. I have a Drake, Cheetah, Falcon, Pilgrim, and some haulers in my POS. What are the chances that I will lose this POS and does anyone have any advice aside from the normal always check D-scan?

If it's a large POS, you'd really... really... really...really have to piss someone off or look like a rich fag for someone to get enough steam in their head to want to kill your POS

odds are very low

Small POS isn't so great, though there's also very little incentive for others to come in and shoot it.

I am assuming you have at least one spare scanning alt in there incase you accidentally get shut out.

He meant characters, in case you go on a supply run and the entry whole collapses and you lose your stuff.

I play it pretty safe. I only send 1 char at a time into empire for supply runs. So a scanning char is always in the WH.

No one wants to shoot ecm pos's without dreads so those are good option for avoiding fights

Spare scanning characters are easy to make and cost very little. Just train racial frigate, cloaking, and some basic probing skills. You can even put the advanced probing books in your cargo hold so you can worry about training them later should the need come up. As long as you keep your stuff fueled this should be no problem as no one is going to shoot an ecm tower unless they hate themselves.

You can also drop 1 combat scanner probe and use it to check for new sigs/ships while doing stuff. If a new sig appears you can do whatever, but it should make it pretty easy not to get ganked. Plus since your running drakes who cares, no one gets super excited about shooting those either.

Last I looked at a small POS, the best setup is to spam as much ECM as possible onto it. Hardeners take too much CPU to be practical on a small, but for the same CPU/PG as 1 hardener you can get 10(!) ECM batteries. Taking into account that it's a C1, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone bored enough to try to shoot it with subcaps.

Honestly, rage is probably your best defence. Putting guns/hardeners will just waste your fitting and a small will still get shot (and reinforced) by 4 BS in 30 minutes. Take those 4 BS against 4 of each racial jammer and I guarantee you they will give up within 10 minutes.

What are you using the WH for? A C1 with static highsec isn't going to produce a whole ton of sites (unless you looove mining) and connections besides your static aren't a dependable resource.

Re POS defense: fit 3-4 small pulses/ACs, 1 scram, 2 webs, the rest ECM. That way you get free kills from dumbasses warping to the moon, and if a bomber wing tries to come incap your ECM you can pick one of them off each time they re-warp to break jams.

I've been out of the game for a few years and haven't fussed with WHs since like 2009, does that program "WH thingy" still accurately predict WH types and levels?

I don't know, but www.staticmapper.com (http://www.staticmapper.com) obsoletes it.

C1 = no battleships and very limited mass. Noone is going to shoot your tower unless you kill someone in their immediate family, and even then I'd say it's unlikely.

In a C1, nobody will bother to destroy your tower, but, if it's a good system (nice second w-space connection or cosmic variable thingy), people might decide to muscle you out. Basically, they'll move in with more ships and people than you and run the sites, camp the wormhole and force you to sit within your forcefield.

One of my old corps did this. We found a really nice C4 with a static C257, but there were two large POS in there. We knew it would take us half a day to shoot it down, so we checked the corp's activity and PvP record and saw that they didn't have many members and had no worthwhile PvP statistics. We simply moved in three POS of our own into the system and got a mail from them a few days later, asking for a truce while they move all their stuff out.

That said, who would want to move into a C1? People can solo a C2 just as easily as you can solo a C1 and it only takes 2-3 accounts to live in a C3, so I'm sure you'll be left alone.

I "invaded" the WH of some 10 man corp a couple months ago. I got a few of their BS killed when they tried to shoot my pos. It's been offline for 2 or 3 months now, they never shot it again. Small tower, too.
