I'm trying to get my head around the Swarm launcher changes, which everyone is whinging about on the forums.

As I understand it (please correct me), at present with max skills:

5 shot clip (3 increased by skill and rounded up)
1.2 second lockon time
2 second fire interval
break lock on fire.


Post patch

3 shot clip (no skill)
1.05 second lockon time (1.4 reduced by skill)
.3 second fire interval
break lock on fire


Some queries:

Can you lock while that fire interval is going on or only after? i.e. can both timers run concurrently?
OPTION A) If so, then this is a switch from 2 seconds between shots (locking occuring during fire interval), to 1.05 seconds between shots (fire interval occuring during locking).
OPTION B) If not, then this is a switch from 3.2 seconds between shots to 1.35 second between shots.



If Option A is correct, then my maths goes as follows:

PREPATCH

1.2, FIRE, 2, FIRE, 2, FIRE, 2, FIRE, 2, FIRE, 2, RELOAD, 2, REPEAT

1 clip of 5 shots in 13.2 seconds

15 shots plus reload in 39.6 seconds

~0.379 shots a second


POST PATCH

1.05, FIRE, 1.05, FIRE, 1.05, FIRE, 1,05, RELOAD, 2, REPEAT

1 clip of 3 shots every 6.25 seconds

15 shots plus reload in 31.25 seconds

~0.48 shots a second, i.e. a 26.6% increase


This isn't as huge a buff as everyone is making out. Significant, sure, especially at killing anything that takes 3 shots or less (including misses), but hardly ridiculously super OP.

I don't think the lock breaks between firing.

edit: I'm wrong, the lock does break.

Looks like a pretty big boost.

edit: I'd actually made a mistake in the formulas, should be right now...

In a vacuum, sure, it's a huge boost. But I hardly think that swarm launchers are suddenly going to dominate the meta and force everyone else to stop spamming vehicles all the time.

Not that I would mind for a second if they did.

Not really - the worst fuckers to kill are the charbydis which is usually shield tanked to fuck.

What would make everyone happy would be to change the damage profile to 80% shields/120% armor instead of the current 70/130.
