Because inactive players shouldn't be the 'best pilots in eve'.. Its also an incredibly easy system to game.. I mean look at lukka, all he does is camp a station in amamake almost 24/7 killing noobs as they undock. He is completely immune to anything as he has an alt in a carrier sitting next to him who never agresses so he can dock up the second anyone trys to hotdrop him. EVEN IF everything gos tits up for him and the carrier gets killed, the points wont count against him as hes not the carrier pilot.

whats more telling is how long it took someone to get to the top, not how long they've been there inactive. if it took you 5 years of being active to get to the top, then who cares if you've been inactive for 2. it could have taken the active pilot under you 2 years to get there. still proud of being at the top despite taking taking 2 years off?

tbh, this is a better way but kind of hard to figure when you've got 15 people on your km and no consistent way of telling whether you just killed something in a 1v1 or took on a blob solo and got a kill out of it.
