Edit: Question. The shield generator module that helps friendlies, my current understanding is that you trigger it to turn it on, then it helps anyone within the range, and the number of ships you're helping is denoted by the little number on the icon. C/D?

You get 30ish assist pts for every kill inside the sphere which is a nice bonus. which means everytime someone in range kills someone.

I'm either terrible or a competent interceptor pilot is literally impossible to hit from closer than 3km away. I don't have much issue swatting them with my frig from a few km away as support but if I'm in my fighter I might as well not bother since I'll never be able to hit one unless he's super terrible or hits a rock or something.

Well, check for which ship type and tier it is. Get ship according to item. click slot according to item. See item. mount item.

If your unsure: go warehouse, check item.
Afterwards hangar to euip ship. Be sure you demount the item currently fitted to see all possibel items for this slot. Else you will only see updates for the current euiped item category (for example if you have a shieldbooster euiped youd only see different shieldbooster marks, to euip something different you have to defit it first)

I've p much tried all the things at least shortly to get an idea of gameplay,but been mostly flying ceptors (tried all the races but mostly fed)

Until now - bought Deimos 2. Goddamn this thing is so ezmode compared to flying a ceptor and dont even have all the blue gear etc.
Turn links on, whore points, press F to shit out mad deeps and also agility boost to hit interceptors.
Also so much more impact on the actual scenario.
And viable choice for bearing.

P dissapointed, wanted to do interceptors only but thats hard-mode i guess if rolling casually (aka. not setting up a ~srs~ squad every time)

Yeah, when you change contracts (under the contracts butan, funnily enough) you "adopt" a different race and start getting points for them.
Cost to change contracts scales up as you go up in ranks (independently of faction, only sub-faction rank counts).

Just tried out the rapid fire railguns, despite their name they're more shotguns than machine guns. Normally they fire four rounds in one shot, slightly slower than the assault railguns, but if you let them sit they charge up and you can double or even triple that. A fully-charged blast can do 2100-2200 damage, possibly more but those are the couple values I was able to catch in the mayhem. Suffice it to say they have shorter maximum and effective ranges. Not as practical as assault railguns, but they're fun and a nice change.

Deimos 2 is a must fly before they nerf the shit out of it.
Dwarf 2 with pulse emergency barrier makes you unkillable, 1.3s mwd 3s barrier allows you to aim and gtfo from tight situations.
Stiletto AE is beast mode and possibly the best tier 2 ceptor. I got lucky to find experimental stasis generator in a drop and im currently abusing the fuck out of it at tier 2 (it turns of all controls of a ship for 4.2s making it a siting duck basicly). Add phase modulator for running away, and parasitic remodulator for recharging shields (on which you get a bonus) and you have yourself a litl rape machine which can take on anything and has better survivability then deimos 2.

As far as frigates go get Alligator M, it reminds me of Brutix of old, its glass canon which can warp gate into a ball of ceptors/fighters dueling and murder everything in seconds, unless some1 looks at it funny.

gonna probably try to drop IR Flares and see how i do.

I used to roll ricasso and switched to stilleto just now so its not at full synergy yet. Stilleto has more tank then ricasso and it has the range bonus on shield leech but it is a lot slower 408 for me no implants and with blue speed rig. That speed diference is not ussefull while you are dueling but tis felt once you need to run away. With ricasso i was able to get out more eassilly but with stilleto i can duel better and take a bit more damage.
Shield leech thingie with range bonus has 2.2km range which is more ussefull then cap ussage bonus on ricasso imho. When you are carrying bomb or running away use T to lock closest target and then just hit leech. Drop the flares, if you have time to hit flares then you have time to run from missile and if you dont have time to react youll eat it anyways.

I wasnt aware that they exist until i got a green drop. Thing is pretty awesome (nothing like stunning and raping the bomb carrier or peacing out in 10% hull)
Now i dont see these modules available in the T2 shop - is this a bug or intended?

There are a bunch of mods that drop in the tier before they're available for purchase, Stasis Generator being one of the best "secret modules" of T2.

Intended. That thing is OP/anoying as hell, at tier 3 is common as hell thou and is one of the reasons i find t2 the moust enjoyable atm.

T3 is entertaining in a ceptor, i'm a little turned off by Fed rank 9 implant (+20% speed).
They dumpstered Fed ceptors by capping the speed at 600, but fucking geared Fed fighters get like 560ish which is significantly faster than my ceptor l0l

Although i must admit i quite like the Jericho one for bumping the shit out of enemy frigates (a good bump does very decent damage)
I probably wont ever leave T3 though, since T4 seems like premium and closed beta all-purple fagets club.

Moved up from T2 to T3 in an Empire fighter, I think the Prometheus 2.

Got dumpstered in about three seconds every battle while my own damage output seemed insufficient to really get much of anything done. I was going for a gankier setup rather than the tanky command-aura fighter setup I was using in T2, so dying a bit faster is more or less expected, but I just got annihilated - and a full Overdrive's worth of pewpewpew barely even took down a frigate's shields before it wore off and I died, whereas in T2 I could probably junk one from full to dead, and get most of another's shields. I'm even using a lot of MII/III stuff for my DPS portions, so it just seems odd to me. (Lots of fire rate and hit chance stuff, with pulse lasers.)

Also, the "tackler" role on fighters seems less enthralling than I thought; I made my decision before realizing that apparently the Engine Suppressor is more or less the only Tackler mod out there? I still prefer the Legion overdrive to the Warden one, but I was excited about interceptors finally getting the Stasis Field or whatever it's called once I unlock an inty, and evidently the fighter doesn't really get the same...

also fuck firestorm missiles, I can't keep the volley on target for shit.

You can get Stasis in T2 as a drop, but it's still interceptor only.

Yea fed suck dick at current state, empire ceptors are great for getting thud medal thou their hull tank is not so good since you eat much more damage then with faster jericho/fed ceptors.

Its less game modes, longer queue times, requires 3 decently fit ships to not be a useless pubbie.

I'm gonna try the Fox-M some more and maybe get the Wolf-M if i like it. Fly it like giant ceptor with omg deeps and uber cloak.
Only annoying thing so far is that the Fox-M tanks like way less than my Ricasso, which is kinda unbalanced. Maybe i'm just bad though (probably)

Depends on if the person you kill is also playing the objective, I've seen many games where half the team was in a ball in a random place and 2-3 guys were playing the objective.

Depends on if the person you kill is also playing the objective, I've seen many games where half the team was in a ball in a random place and 2-3 guys were playing the objective.

I'm saying they don't get a choice when the only reason they live more than 5 seconds against our blockade is spawn invulnerability. Can't play much of anything if all they're doing is spawning, taking a few pot shots while invincible, then dying instantly =P

EDIT: Besides, it's not like those numbers only happen while spawn camping or brawling just for the sake of it. Hail is the equivalent of EVE arties//high alpha, so nbs I end up with lots of final blows even when chasing people attacking beacons.

Spawn camping them is just a hilarious outcome that I prefer to capping out when real players are still alive so they get the max repair bill. If there are only bots left, we usually go cap for moar points//performance reward.

TL;DR you can now broadcast targets eve-style which should be pretty boss if you're rolling with a squad.
In pub matches it means that everyone is spamming the shit out of it.
Also they buffed contracts (and +50% loyalty is active for a week) so its faction hopping time.

It's sort of weird since the aiming changes drastically depending on what you're pointing at and how far along the screen you are, but it's not the end of the world. If you do scenarios, practice blapping NPCs with hail without targeting. You'll be one shotting them so fast you won't have a choice if you want low completion times.

The real kicker is Stasis, which stops you from shooting, using any modules, or even moving for x seconds (Dagger special in module form). Ion is similarly annoying, but at least you can still move/dodge.

Blue Stasis is 5.7sec on Elf 2 and Epic Ion Beam is 9.7sec.

Not sure you can reduce that down to 2sec :p

It was a random bug, no clue why, I did 13k non-crits in that single game and everything was bugged as fuck.

No square around players, no thing that you aim at when shooting, was stuck with expert camera etc.

I honestly thought it first it was a secret change to realistic =D

They got greedy, upped the prices of ships, and now started mixing tiers so that people MUST progress if they want to be capable of doing anything, instead of just flying around trying not to die to higher tier ships.

Time to roll good mid-tier ships i guess, and wait till they fix it.
Did a couple of matches in a Phobos Aura, the matchmaking doesnt seem that bad so far (1-2 scrub tier3 ships tops).

Now we'll have to look at how they handle the whole "pubbie vs. squad" deal.
T3 throws pubbies against squads all the time, which kinda makes sense probability-wise, but obviously is frustrating for the casual player (i have eve for my ~srsbsns~ spaceship needs, thanks)

Also i find the "its beta!" argument kinda retarded when they actively want to make money on their product during said beta.

I was pissed about the cross-tier matches at first, but after playing pretty extensively yesterday I've decided it's not that bad. My squad had no problems going against the T3 ships in our T2 ships, they are most likely Mk.I or Mk.II fitted which isn't a huge deal.

I am curious if the number of ships in your hangar affects the matchmaking though, because it seems a lot of people are flying with one T3 or T4 ship to get in to T2 matches.

I was playing with Shoki over the weekend with the new patch. And oh boy how we felt we missed the party, an exceptionally short party. I've got my T2 ships now but somehow i cant feel that i will be playing this game much more if it stays like this which is really a shame as i enjoyed it even more than Warthunder. Btw they fucked up economy of warthunder aswell and people are still playing it so i doubt that they will feel the need to change anything.

I'm very busy this week so i doubt i will be playing much until next weekend, fingers crossed that they do something about it. My experience with russian devs tells a different story though :'(

What did they screw up with this game?
Its currently grindy as fuck if you want blue modules beyond tier 2 (and dont want to l0lrmt).
Which honestly is nbd, i mean game is f2p what the fuck were you expecting.
T2 is fun, T3 as a casual solo player starts to get frustrating because people start to actually organize in squads with proper group setups (links and heals etc.). Also T4 squads come down to t3 to chill out and farm pubbies. Thats the standard multiplayer game dynamic though which isnt specific to SC

They fucked up the matchmaking algorithm badly right after the patch, but its pretty much back to normal now.
Game is still p fun for casual spacepew in my opinion.

TL:DR they redid a shitton, rebalanced tiers (makes way more sense now), added new modules which look p fun, rebalanced ships to give them more distinct roles, buffed contracts, somewhat unfucked jericho fighters by changing their special etc. (just got half an hour gameplay in so far)

Also shit dies way faster in t2 now which is super fun.

And i got 12mil credits refund while retaining p much all of my ships.

in general, the patch is awesome

they still managed to did quite a number of things wrong, but in general, for now, it's awesome.

I'll ahve to play more to see how things turn out, though

specifically i hate the fact that they removed the choice in fitting (eg command fighters now can't use tackling or offensive modules, which is gay, i loved mixing mods even if mods had high cap usage. Now, when you see tech fighter, you KNOW it only has command mods, so there's no possibility to seurprise someone wiht a web or a painter... removing choice is bad. or maybe i'm just spoiled by EvE...)
Also, frigs really, really didn't need a boost, but that is counteracted with an AWESOME fighter boost.

Intys got fucked in the ass though, no lube.

ok, a quick update, since i do play this

the patch is a move in the right direction, but the developers greed is still brutally obvious. you can't skip shikps in the tree if you don't want to fly it, in 99% you need to buy ALL the prerequisites

frigs got changed, they got buffed, but that's countered by a strong fighter buff. Frigs are gonna get nerfed hard, very soon though.

intys aren't fucked as i thought, but they all practically got moved for a whole tier.
While it makes shit WAY more expensive, it gives them a LOOOOT more options for fitting (passive and tunings).
Still super fun to fly, but shoehorning them into roles hurt them. if you're not a cov-ops, forget doing ANY kind of meaningful DPS.

Command fighers got fucked HARD. They have only 3 active mods to chose from (armor, shield and damage), and damage links got changed into an active module (instead of 'always on'), meaning that cca every minute you can activate it and boost for like 10 seconds.
if you fly them, it's utter shit.


but when all is summed, it is (except for everything being ridiculously expensive) a move in the right direction and i like it. I wouldn't say i'm happy with the state of the game, but there is some kind of movement, and it's generally in the right direction.

Devs are like eve few years ago: running around hacking shit with an axe without thinking it out, often hitting the right spot, but often destroying things that don't need fixing...

regarding missing mods: check if they were fitted on a ship that changed tier. My ricasso had full green/blue gear, so when they moved it to T3, they moved all the fitted mods to T3, stripped them and left them in my hangar before taking away the ship.
So that part kind of worked out for me, 'cause now i have a good chunk of green/blue T3 gear. bad thing is i can't use blue gear untill i get loyalty with appropriate subfraction...

EDIT: AAAAAND... they did it again.
For every step forward they need to do 2 steps back.

They took out all the heals out of the game which is a MASSIVE buff to links since they are now the only force multiplier.
Buying and fitting out the Jericho t2 top-tier Command fighter was the first thing i did after patch.
And boy that thing is 0wnz0ne.
Bring 3 links, chill out in range of where the fighting happens (nearly 7k range too), watch your team win because of the added ehp/deeps.

pretty dope

Also its a huge buff for casual players. Before patch a squad setup could p much faceroll and win vs. pubbies every time just because of the retarded combo of reps+resist links

remote repping is here, unchanged (engi frigs).
jericho fighters aren't aynwhere near as awesome as they were before, with the new specials, especially command ships.
finally, with the valkyre not being a constant aura, they really lost their main advantage and a reason to fly...

yeah, while patch looked good (and i don't really like the frig nerf, it was, again, over the top), i won't be playing it anymore, because, as takon said, it pisses the living shit out of me
All my ships i liked are changed and reshuffled, whatever i liked doing before got either nerfed to the ground, changed or simply removed.
And, worse, after changes i'm stuck deep in the wrong part of ship tree with no money to move somewhere else...

Yeah you're right. I guess i just got lucky playing right after the patch before people realized which frigs to use for repping.
They actually buffed the fuck out of reps (270ish per second for blue t2 shield rep -.- thats nearly twice of that before patch).

So yeah, terrible, not really playing until they fix that.

I login sometimes.
T2 is playable, although i dont really bother with anything but engi frigs.
Ceptors are officially dogshit now. Command Fighters are useful but not exactly fun to play, other than that i'm not sure why i'd roll a fighter.
And i think there is no good guard frigate in T2 (those get to fit smartbomb/AoE slow/dmg reduction and the good selfheal over time module)
T4 PvE is doable now in T3 ships if you have basic knowledge of the encounter and your squadmates arent retards. (pays 200k-ish + green t4 loot drop or 2-3k loyalty for ~20 min of bearing)

Still grindy as fuck, i still dont care too much since T3 and T4 dont actually offer a lot to a casual player.

Generally its cool for grabbing login reward, casually pewing for half an hour and logging off.

EDIT: lol they dropped 0.8.1 today which changes quite a lot

Game is pretty shit. I got my space itch scratched for a little while now and oohhh, pretty and shiny just can't cover up the glaring balance issues.
Frigs are worthless and simply die before an inty. Engy frigs that is, not the longrange ones. Which are a can of gameplay worms all by themselves, I have no idea what kinds of moronic decisions anyone can make to come up with a dedicated sniper class. But then again I did play this game when the disintegrator was a hitscan weapon, so there seems to be much much (MUCH!) room for idiocy with those devs.
Now, since frigs die to inties and gunships die to inties and tacklers die to two inties or to one 2/3rds of the time and to anything else, guess what everyone is flying - inties. So the game is scroll your mouse fast enough to track them while they zip around and then go pixel hunting for a target that is about 1cm^2 on the screen. It's not that this is impossible. It's just that it gets old, fast.

The reason they put Engineering frigs into the dumpster like that (and buffed interceptors to near-retard levels) is apparently T3 and up were unkillable frigate balls of death shitting on everything.

Problem is - i dont want to put up a squad and be on comms just to have a quick round of pew in T2, i have eve for my srsbsns spaceship needs thanks.

Personally, I was sitting at level 7 and a whole weekend of play hasn't gotten me to level 8 yet. The whole idea that you can completely erase everyone's progress on their ships is a bit... stupid.

I found the opposite. I had synergy maxed on loads of ships, after patch they were at 5/9. Was totally stuck before the patch, too much grinding. Now I find I'm making loads of money and unlocking new stuff again. Just about to buy first T4 ship.

I got a lot of synergies unlocked too, my problem has more to do that even with premium I still can't afford the level 8 ship. Which I assume unlocked level 8 implants and such.

I do feel bad for the other non-moronic people on the team if I get them, but I only do it once its pretty clear no one is going to use it if I put it in the right place, so not TOO bad.

They should really remove the gates, tbh, they make strong teams even stronger (corporation team? beacon hunt? Okay, thanks for the free win guys), and they people do this shit, but fuck me I just cannot stop laughing when half the team explodes one after the other from a warp gate pointing to the giant pointless furball in the middle of nowhere that they're managing to lose despite the 4 enemy guys sitting on the cap all day killing me over and over, etc.

The amount of changes in last few patches is pretty crazy, entire reworking of module system, then reworking it again. I still logon to shoot stuff occasionally tho - flying T4 NoDachi interceptor mostly.

I guess I'm glad I never noticed this until after the changes then. I like the ability to just pick it up and randomly blow people up, but I cannot see any semblance of what people are saying it used to be. Never having the best means the poor quality trash seems okay, I guess.

EDIT: EU prime yesterday night was around 2k as well. Steam seems to be doing favours. The global chat is suprisingly bearable for a steam F2P as well. Community is better in every way than LoL, for example, which is worrying.

At one point, every patch would break a game even more, making it unplayable at T3

There was some horribly broken stuff, at one stage long range frigs were useless. Now they are buffed again and maybe overpowered - maybe not. Similarly with ECM ceptors, everyone hates being hit by stasis web. That got a huge nerf. The game used to be "interceptor conflict" but I think it's a bit more balanced now.

There have been too many big changes lately so I don't really know what to think... Lack of players is a problem, sometimes the queue takes ages to pop. Sometimes I get very ggs, sometimes I get a stupid 3v3 with 2 bots on each side.

Flying a tier 4 interceptor with lots of purplez and 8/10 synergy helps :p

Tacklers as in the fighter class called tacklers? Or tacklers like we think of in eve (interceptor with stasis web)? The t15 implant only affects stun duration doesn't it? This doesn't affect any of the fighter tackler modules. For interceptors stasis is not their only module, also you overestimate how many people have reached that level. Even if you have the implant it only takes effect if you fly a ship of that level or higher. They have been messing with the matchmaker a lot, I don't find it putting me against t5 people that much. Most opponents seem to have similar to me, one t4 ship and bunch of other t3 ships.

I hated the fighter tackler I had (katana). The Katana S command fighter was so much better... Diffusion shield is amazing. It's countered by ceptor + energy drain tho. Command fighter is easy mode, you are the toughest thing around and get so many points from buff assists.

But its not the T15 implant, its a lower down one that strips all slows and makes you immune to them for ~10s whenever you use a survival or something else (repair? fuck knows what the names are) module. Flares and a shield boost can make you totally immune, and the tackler doesnt really do so much to people who are evading, particularly 'ceptors, who its supposed to hard counter.

Although the painter still has merit, you're honestly better off as a gunship for DPS, no fuckers follow your target unless you're in a squad, and the command actually has some tank.

75% reduction in a stupidly long duration module like the high-tier tackler engine damps isnt such a big deal, though, I feel. Certainly not like "oh, engine damped? K fuck you flares/shield booster". particularly if you're fighting a command boat and it just shield boosts and head-ons you giving no fucks, or a ceptor just pops stealth and moves to sit on your arse where you cant actually turn fast enough to hurt it.

Bah... I dunno what has changed but I can't seem to hit anything with this new patch. No lag problems but it feels like the lead reticle for ceptor shrapnel cannon is completely off... Was fine yesterday. Reticle for assault rails seems fine tho.

You should actually try the latest patch so. If you thought the changes a few months back were severe you should try these newer ones!
The conversation chain i spelled out is pretty plain to see m8, don't have to live like an eskimo every winter.
